When it comes to second hand car dealers, one must always be careful. Everyone needs to make a living, and second hand car dealers are no exception. Some are as honest as the next guy, while others, they are just in it for the quick buck. Robbie Baxter fits into that second catagory. Hes a really nice guy when you meet him, and will go out of his way to talk you into any of his cars on the lot, and if there is a problem with finance..do not fear, Robbie is there. He will happily allow you finance (from himself personally, that he puts together himself for you), however be aware that his finance interest rate is twice that of a normal finance company. Yes that is right, he will finance your vehicle if you buy it from him! Which is handy I am sure if you can not get finance elsewhere. When we purchased a car from him, a later model one with low kms and a reasonable price, we were over the moon. Not so over the moon when within 6 weeks it had broken down, and all attempts at contacting Robbie himself were a waste of time. Everytime we went to the car yard his staff would inform us he was away on a test drive, or sick, or holiday, or in asia buying new vehicles. This is good and fine, but when you live on the outskirts of town and have children who need to get to school and work you need to get too, you need your vehicle to be working. After two months of trying to establish contact with him to check the vehicle we gave up and took it to a mechanic. Quote for repair $4500, over half the price of what we had originally paid for it :-( We went ahead with the repair work, and again tried to establish contact with My Baxter. Again we were never able too. After the car was repaired, and broke down 2 weeks after that, we decided to take Mr Baxter to court. It seemed our only option. Court was a waste of time and we ended up returning the car. The staff at Robbie Baxters are lovely, they do not stay long before moving on, but they are lovely. However I would never ever buy another vehicle from there, and no way would I ever recommend anyone to go there. |
