It was dark. Phoebe needed to go to the bathroom. But what about the wolf under her bed? "Take it with you," said Mum. So off Phoebe goes, and along the way she collects an assortment of odd characters, all of which need to go to the bathroom. But what will happen when they get there? |

I love reading this story to my toddler, He likes the bright clear pictures and the way it is written makes it great fun to put on different funny voices and make reading the story very fun and cute. The little girl in the story (Phoebe) meets an assortment of frightening characters including monsters, trolls and even a shark and she is afraid, but then she learns to turn the light on and make all the scary characters go away. My son is too young yet but I I'm sure this book will be perfect for those children who are afraid of monsters or the dark , It reassures and also clarifies that those fears are completely normal. I really like this book its cute and have really nice illustrations. Definitely would recommend this for kids 3-8. Although my son is only 1 and he loves it. |

Miss Three and Miss Four love this book. We don't have any issues with night scares but this has still become a bit of a favourite. It is a very funny take on the fears children have and after reading it you will be hoping that you could actually meet some Night Creatures in your hallway too!! The illustrations are very comic with writing scrolling all over the page in different typeface of different size. The typeface is very ghostly which I love. Phoebe meets an assortment of creatures including a troll (with a very friendly face), a shark which nips Phoebe's bottom, a red haired giant, a spook, a pot bellied lion and a gang of terrible monsters (who look like crazy aliens) who can't quite decide on the password to the bathroom. By the time Phoebe gets into the bathroom she has lost her patience and as she flicks on the light all her new-found friends disappear. The book ends with Phoebe in bed sleeping with a big smile on her face. Phoebe and the Night Creatures is a great way to demystify the very scary trip to the bathroom in the night. My girls loved the shark and now go shark hunting in our hall way and demand that the light stays off!! I would recommend this book to any parent who is having issues (or wants to prevent them) with a child not wanting to be alone in the dark or go to the toilet by themselves during the night. |
