DragonFly's Sinedot Shader --------------------------------------------------------- This is my first try in creating a photoshop Filter. I choose this old demoeffect because it's nice and easy to implement. I know that it is slow, extremely unintuitive and probably not very useful. Hopefully somebody has a use for it anyway. It should work with any photoshop 3.0+ compatible host under Windows 95/98/NT. This filter is free, but if you actually use it for some work I'd really like to see the result. So it'd be kind to mail me the url if available. Interesting settings are appreciated, too. You may redistribute this filter as long as you do two things: 1st: Mail me at 'DragonPhil@gmx.de' and tell me. 2nd: Distribute the unmodified files only together as one including this text file. Btw. I enabled all kinds of modes just because it's possible. Please consider that i do no color conversion and thus the effect will have different colors for different modes... Mail me for any comment, suggestion, bug report, etc. If you have ideas for new Plug-Ins.... I'm interested, too. Philipp Spth (DragonPhil@gmx.de) |

I was walking through the park one day... in the merry merry month of... erm... well, April actually... and it wasn't a park, it was a website on Photoshop tutorials... and technically I wasn't really 'walking' either... so, erm, yeah, guess there goes that intro. OK, so, I was checking out a photoshop tutorial on how to make pretty ribbon bows made of light, and I thought "Hey, I don't have this Sinedots filter they say you have to have to make the tutorial work!" So I clicked the link thinking "It's probably another bug-filled FilterFactory plugin... but it could be kinda useful in a limited way." The plugin arrived (a mere 35kb!) and I installed it, ran the AssignPath tool to set the registry key as instructed, and fired up Photoshop to check out this 'dinky toy' filter. Within mere moments I was stunned to find myself hooked, trying various settings, tweaking designs, and playing Spirograph-on-acid games with my desktop wallpaper. It was SERIOUSLY COOL! So, after going to the creator's website and downloading the latest version, I had to explore it to it's fullest... a task I was soon to realise was impossible, because this little filter has some mighty powerful mojo inside it. Overall, to cut the ranting short, find it, download it, play with it... and while you are there, check out some of his other filters (a few of which are reviewed here too) and you will NOT be disappointed. |
