Review #2617 - Dated: 4th of August, 2008 Author: vivid |
I got the chance to watch this when I had my niece over to stay for the school hols. She adores Jane and the Dragon and was overjoyed to see I had this on 'her' shelf when she arrived.
As always, the storylines are quite witty and yet still kid-suitable and there are always a few good lessons to be learned in each episode. Things such as ethics and courage, honesty and integrity, and being a good friend even when it means balancing it against some of the other values.
I found the soundtrack a little scratchy in places, but that could easily have been my aging stereo speakers, though I also think some of the music was a little rough too. (Probably the instruments.)
Some great stories here but *my* favourite was certainly episode 2, 'Rune' where Jane not only has to balance her duty as a Castle Squire against her friendship with Dragon, but also has to solve a number of problems to secure her place as the leader of the parade. In the end, of course, Jane beats the obstacles, the bad guy gets twarted, and Jane does what's right by her friends, even the one who tries to best her.
Another great installment and its great to see NZ talent being showcased in such a novel way.
