PIVOTING PARROTS... and other balancing models to cut out and glue together.
Each of these clever models balances in an interesting and curious way and they all make use of small coins as weights.
The beautifully painted models are on wildlife themes and include parrots, a cockatiel, butterflies and even a mouse outweighing an elephant! Not only are they delightful and charming to make but they have an extra interest of unexpected equilibrium.

Wow! What can you say about this book other than Wow. OK, I'll try and say more then...
Well, the artwork is stunning, that's for sure. Of particular note are the designs on the butterflies. The details is wonderful, and will be a real treat for any young child. Especially when you balance the butterfly on their finger. :)
I was also impressed by the addition of some 'experimental shapes' that show the key points of working with an object's Center of Gravity (COG for short). They really do make for wonderful demonstration items. I can easily see a teacher using them in a classroom situation.
The birds themselves are wonderful models to make, and look superb when constructed properly and cleanly, sitting on a bookshelf gently rocking in a breeze. Very much looking forward to finishing them off with my son.
Overall... another winner from Tarquin Publications.
