This mouse is amzaing with the amount of dpi and the accuracy this mouse has. I was using this on my computer to play movies with and at the 2000dpi setting it was picking up the small movements from the bass. In photoshop the 400dpi setting is very nice for getting pin point accuracy.

The mouse, without the weighting system in it, is extremely light, it's even lighter than the Microsoft optical mice. I found for gaming applications the maxium wieghting is good for role playing games and stratagies, whereas with the lighter weights to no weights, the mouse is better suited for FPS games.

The only issues with this mouse is that fact the cable cover fell away exposing the plastic cable below in 6 months of use and lack of a second thumb button which is addresed in the rev 2 of the mouse.

The grip on the mouse is very comfortable and a no slip surface except it's prone to getting greasy with constant use.

Overall I feel this mouse is best suited to the general gamer and normal user, for the prosessional gamer (in the FPS genre) I feel this is not the best product to suite your needs.

Looking for a cheap spare mouse for that old PC? Give it the one you are using now, and replace it with one of these babies! Using the latest in high-resolution image-interpretation technology, this little beauty is amazingly sensitive!

The machine I have this mouse attached to is primarily being used for video editting, and so it has an array of two 17" LCD monitors and a 29" TV as screens, so if I want to quickly leap from screen to screen, with the tap of a single button on the mouse I can flip it to highest-resolution, and a mere twitch will have it zooming over to where I need it. Another tap, and I drop the resolution down to 800dpi, and it becomes a highly responsive device calibrated to the screen size, and the size of my desk's mousing area.

When I need really fine control, tap a button and drop the resolution down to 400dpi, and now I can select individual pixels with ease in Photoshop without having to zoom in so far that I sacrifice an overall view. This multi-resolution finctionality would have to be one of the most important factors in choose a laser-based mouse.

Now, because the mouse uses far smaller components, despite the extra buttons to control the resolution, the mouse is very light, so to give you a chance to either adapt your style, or the mouse, you get a nifty little plate that clips into the belly of the mouse, and a pile of little weights that you can plug into the plate and adjust the overall weight, and distribution. This means that you can fine-tune your mouse to your needs.

Overall, though this is designed and promoted primarily as a gamer's mouse, I am not much of a gamer, but this mouse really has a broad range of professions it is suitable for. As a media artist by trade and hobby, I found this mouse to be highly suitable for my needs. A stunning mouse with pretty much all the features you'll need, even a 'go back' button for web browsing right under your thumb. The best feature however... it works really well on almost every surface I tested it on. A little problem when trying to work on REALLY reflective surfaces, but that is an issue common to every optical-based device. See, the old rollerball mice DO still have a place. LOL Icon Grin Icon
