What do we love about MOTAT? I think my kids would say everything, they love that it is interactive and they are encouraged to touch and try things out and that the explanations are easy to understand and they can try again (they have competitions to see who can lift mum the easiest) and that the staff are on hand to explain things like the steam engine and that the steam engine actually works even if the explanation is a bit above what Mum can understand.

We love that there are different theme weekends and quite often go and have a look, I have a lot of photos taken of the various activities at MOTAT and some we do every time we go, which at minimum is once a month, the great thing about having a MOTAT Mates pass is that we pay once and go often (in fact so often that some of the staff are recognising us as regulars) and we get to jump the queue for the themed weekends (we often get dirty looks from others who have been standing in the queue for a while).

I like that we can bring our own food or support the cafe (we used to love doing this but they have recently changed the operator and the new one is not as good so we try and avoid the cafe) and that there are nice places to sit and enjoy your picnic that you have brought along.

The kids aren't too fussed about MOTAT 2 (the aviation site) as it hardly ever changes, the planes stay the same and the information stays the same but on live days they enjoy the train ride and love the military rides especially in winter. They enjoy the tram ride but even more when it is the double decker and they get to sit on top

The price of a mates pass is really low considering how often you can go and how much you learn by going often but parking can be a massive pain in the ass so get there early or even better catch a bus as there are bus stops within very easy walking distance.
