I recently purchased this book on special for $4 at our local bookshop. However, I would have happily paid a bit more for the book. Dr Seuss is a legend, and one I grew up with. So many of his books are excellent for their values, their illustrations and their way with langauge as well.

Mr Moo is no exception. While on each page something crazy happens, Dr Seuss plays with language causing the parent to have to stop and think a bit. Its great for an early reader though, because they are sounding things out so the weirder words don't phase them as much. Also the repetition of words is great because the morre times you see a word the more likely it will stick in your mind. That's especially true for all those tricky sight words that sometimes can not be sounded out.

This is not a quick read. Its about 10 - 15 minutes long. But it is quite funny, and it has my daughter giggling. Because it's repetitive, she also "reads along" with me. This is highly re-readable, and is often requested night after night for a week at a time. For this reason I can not knock it's value for money. I have since bought a few other Dr Seuss titles because this book was so popular with my daughter.

I love Dr Seuss and I have enjoyed all the stories of his that I have read but this one is definetly right up there on the favourites list. It has become my sons favourite story at the moment as he thinks it his hilarious when I make the noises.

The book is full of repetition of the noises Mr Brown can make so Cai loves it because the noises he thinks are the funniest get repeated over and over again, he loves the cock a doodle doo for some reason and it has him in fits of laughter. He also loves the goldfish kiss and will blow a kiss when we get to this part of the story.

It is a nice short story were you and your children can just be a little bit silly and see what noises you can make. It is quite funny to see different people read it as they all make the noises differently one persons hippopatomus chewing gum is different to another persons.

I don't mind reading this book again and again as it is such an enjoyable read and knowing Cai enjoys it so much makes me enjoy it so much more as I love to see him giggle when I make silly noises and listen to him try and make them too.
