The first thing to comment on would be the size of the Sansa Clip. It is really one of the smallest mp3 players you'll ever see, and Sandisk often use comparison shots of it next to a car key to illustrate just how dinky it is. This means that it is ultra portable and light and won't be a burden on your pocket, bag, purse or belt. The 4GB silver version is arguably the coolest looking of the range, with a mirror finish and the small screen jumping out from behind the smoked plastic, which looks very futuristic and is the most original design of the range.

The Sansa Clip uses a control style that users of the iPod Classic will be familiar with, with a circular navigation and scroll wheel performing all the controls, and it works just as well here as on Apple's device.

The headphones supplied with the Sansa Clip are probably the biggest disappointment because they are pretty cheap and the sound quality is not the best, but buying a new set of headphones certainly did the job for me.

All in all there's a lot to like about the Sansa Clip, not just because it provides a viable alternative to the bigger brands but also because it can be had for a steal at several retailers, and by trying to be great at what it does rather than spreading itself too thinly and doing too much badly, Sandisk have hit a winner.

When I saw the size of this MP3 player, I wasn't sure what to think!
This MP3 player, smaller than most cookies, yet holding more bytes than a cookie factory, seemed to be too good to be true. Yet I couldn't pass up an opportunity to have a play with this child's-toy-sized toy for all ages.
I was impressed!
The sound quality of this product is overwhelmingly fantastic, with brilliant, crisp clarity of sound, without the usual distortion that usually comes with the typical cheap-and-nasty headphones you get with these types of products.
Evidently Sansa take the same pride in their headphones, as they do, their main products.
The radio function was awesome! Picking up my favourite stations in the areas where even my car radio usually gets some quite heavy static.
The menu is easy to navigate, and easy to operate.
The battery life is clearly displayed, so you know, pretty accurately, how much time you have left, to listen to Bono wailing the final notes of his Ballad, before you simply plug it back into the USB socket of your computer, using the provided cable, to have it charged back up, and listening to Jonezetta belt out those wonderful notes in no time!
At only slightly bigger than another popular "clip" model MP3 player, that one, without the screen, this little beastie seems to have a much sturdier clip mechanism, not as easy to break, as I have seen multiple of the afformentioned product break, because Sturdiness has been sacrificed for size.
Sansa certainly knocked out the competition with this one, making it smaller than most, and sturdier than any others I have seen.

When I first saw the Sansa Clip, I thought to myself "it doesn't look much bigger than a USB flash drive", but this has a lot more going for it than a standard USB flash drive.

After getting the unit out of the packaging and charging up the internal, rechargable battery on the USB port, using the very short supplied USB cable (150mm in length, which is no good if you don't have either front USB ports or a USB hub/USB extension cable handy anywhere), I had a look to see how easy it was to add songs if you didn't bother to read the manual... and it is very easy to do indeed. You just transfer the songs or folders containing your songs onto the device as if it was a USB flash drive and hey presto, the songs are loaded.

Overall the unit is very simple: on the front you have the display and the navigation controls, on the left are the power and 'hold' switches and on the right are the volume controls. The navigation controls consist of the 'home' button to take you back to the main menu, as well as a circular ring that holds the play/pause (top), forward (right), back (left) and submenu button (bottom) which bring up the equalizer, play modes, and play list. The central button in the circular ring acts as a select button on the menus, otherwise it toggles the screen display between track info and visual display of the sound.

The sound from this is nice and clear, at least to my ears, but other people have mentioned it sounded a bit quiet at times.

The unit is a perfect size to either clip on you whilst you're off running/jogging or walking, or to slip inside your shirt pocket while you suffer that commute to work.

Over all this is a nice little unit and well worth the price.
