From the Blitz to the Burmese Jungle and Beyond product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsBrian Hennessy was born in Germany in 1921 to British parents. When he was six years old, the family moved to England. Brian was seventeen when war broke out; they were living in London at the time so he had first-hand experience of the Blitz. He worked as a volunteer "roof-spotter", trying to establish if the planes flying overhead were German or English, and also as a volunteer fireman.

On joining the British Army, Brian found that his skills with machinery were in demand in his role as an armament artificer. His army career led to a true adventure story as he journeyed via South Africa to India and the remote jungles of Burma. Danger was always present, but his memoir reveals some amazing stories - sometimes humorous, at other times poignant. At the end of the war, he travelled to Japan where he saw for himself the devastation at Hiroshima. After the war, Brian emigrated to New Zealand where he spent the rest of his life.

Brian's memoir was written in collaboration with Karen McMillan.

Product reviews for listing 7359: Shadow House: #1 Gathering -  Written by: Dan Poblocki

Product image for Shadow House: #1 GatheringSome houses are more than just haunted... they're hungry.

Dash, Dylan, Poppy, Marcus, and Azumi don't know this at first. They each think they've been summoned to Shadow House for innocent reasons. But there's nothing innocent about Shadow House.

Something within its walls is wickedly wrong. Nothing-and nobody-can be trusted. Hallways move. Doors vanish. Ghosts appear. Children disappear. And the way ... more...
