For several months I have been toying with idea of purchasing shampoo bars and conditioner bars to try. I like the fact that they claim to last for a long time, are better for the environment, and more importantly they are made of natural and organic ingredients. However while doing the weekly groceries I could never bring myself to purchase them, as they were quite expensive compared to the usual bottle of liquid, and I was still skeptical about how effective they would actually be. When I saw that Ahhh... had some new bars out, and they were available for review, I quickly jumped at the chance, and thankfully I was lucky enough.

The Manuka Honey and Vanilla conditioner bar is packaged in a cardboard box, which has pictures of delightful bees, honey, and vanilla on a yellow background. The company claims that the bar is free of parabens, and also cruelty free. I like to support NZ companies and products where possible and this product ticks the boxes. The box states that this bar could do 50 - 70 washes, I will admit I was quite surprised and highly doubtful at this claim, but was keen to put it to the test. This particular bar is suitable for all hair types, which is good because we have kids with dry hair, and I tend to get oily hair if it isn't washed at least every second day.

On my first day of using the product I had a shower and washed my hair using an Ahhh... shampoo bar, next it was time for the conditioner bar. I consulted the instructions on the reverse of the box, pretty simple to follow, wet hair and rub over hair, especially the ends. I will admit that it felt weird rubbing a bar on my hair after all these years of using a liquid conditioner. I was impressed with the ease of use and the smell was pleasant. I left the conditioner on for a couple of minutes and then proceeded to rinse it out, my hair felt silky and smooth so I was pleased. After drying my hair I was ecstatic to see that my hair looked healthier, usually it looks a tad frizzy especially at the ends. Best of all there was no residual conditioner hiding in my scalp! The box also mentioned that you could use this as a leave in conditioner, however I have not tried this yet personally.

I am now fully on board with continuing to purchase conditioner bars, the fact that these are made of natural ingredients provides peace of mind for me, especially with my young family. This bar has been used numerous times a day by our family, and yet it still looks like it did when I unpackaged it. I believe in the long run purchasing bars instead of liquid will save us money (especially now that my daughter can't make her potions from the liquid)
I highly recommend giving this product a try if you are sitting on the fence in regards to conditioner bars, you will not be disappointed!

I had previously tried Ahhh...'s Grapefruit and Chamomile Shampoo Bar and was greatly impressed with the ease of use and effectiveness. I was really hoping that the Manuka Honey and Vanilla Conditioner Bar would be just as good.

The bar comes in an attractive cardboard box and has a lovely vanilla smell. The instructions said to wet the conditioner bar and rub over your hair, concentrating on the ends. The bar didn't lather up like the shampoo bar and I found myself rubbing this over my hair a few times as it didn't feel like there was anything on there. After rinsing my hair and towel drying, I began to brush my hair and noticed that it was so much easier than with the other conditioners I had been using. My shoulder-length hair suffers from frizz and I have to use mousse every day in the battle to prevent it. At the weekend, I decided to go au naturel and although my hair wasn't frizz-free, there was a noticeable reduction.

I also tried this on my two daughters who have long hair. The eldest's hair is thick and the conditioner bar was just as effective on her hair which was great as she often has to spray her hair afterward with a detangler spray.

After a week's use on three heads, the bar doesn't look like it's been used and I can see that it will last at least 50 washes, if not more. I am now a conditioner bar convert and can't wait to try different fragrances in the range.

I have long hair so need to use conditioner on the ends or it feels a bit like hay but if I use conditioner on the roots then my hair feels oily and yucky. I have been thinking about this product but wasn't sure it would be worth the money so when KIWIreviews offered a chance to test it I knew this would be perfect.

The instructions on the box were nice and easy to read and follow. I washed my hair with the ahhh... shampoo bar and then used this conditioning bar but just on the hair that was past shoulder length. When my hair had dried I sniffed it to see if there was a strong fragrance but to my relief there wasn't and my hair smelled quite good (now I just hope that if I continue to use this after I go back to work then the kids aren't going to be smelling my hair all day) and I felt the ends to see if it was nice and soft or hard and dry and to my amazement my hair felt nice and soft.

I usually wash my hair every second day so I was wondering how this bar was going to last at least 50 washes, I knew that due to long thick hair there would be no way on this earth it would last 70 washes, and after two weeks it still looks like there is most the bar left, it hardly looks used.

Would I use this product again? I sure would, my hair is nice and clean and soft. My only concern would be that since I work with young children that sometimes come to school with nits that the perfect solution would be that the conditioner have tea tree oil so I don't have to worry about getting nits off the kids at school.

The concept of using a hair conditioner in the form of a bar seems so foreign to me. That being said, I am a male and don't even use shampoo. Frequently growing facial hair, however, I have found myself using conditioner as a way to prevent the facial hair from being too scratchy and dry. It just seems odd to use a bar. At the same time, it makes sense that it would be a thing, seeing as I can choose between soap bars and shower gel for my general body washing needs.

I personally prefer soap bars as it gives me greater control of how much product I use where, as opposed to gels where I tend to get areas of high concentration and spread it around from there, creating an inconsistent coverage, and using far more product than I really want to (most of it ending up in the floor of the bathtub. So I was definitely interested in trying this conditioner bar.

The product comes in a small cardboard box, which is nice to see that this is a product that will actually have no non-recyclable parts, and requires no plastic. The actual conditioner comes in the form of a whiteish puck (best-compared size-wise to a urinal cake that has been squished slightly). It feels a little like hard wax and has a lovely sweet fragrance to it. One does feel like an idiot during the application, as I have short hair, and the product doesn't foam up, it simply feels like I am standing in the shower rubbing a hockey puck into my head (the joys of short hair).

After applying for a little bit, I could feel the bar start to move with less friction and could tell that some of the product was starting to be released. Applying the bar until I felt that slick movement across the whole of my head, I was surprised to see that the bar had not changed in size in any manner that I would consider significant, so it would definitely get a lot of uses out of it. With a lovely fragrance and my hair feeling a lot less dry and more malleable, it definitely seems to do a comparable job to the previous conditioners I have used, with far less greasiness. A great product for a minimalists bathroom.

Less waste, reduce plastic its everywhere these days and everyone is talking about it. One place I have struggled to become more sustainable is the bathroom. I see posts and comments all over social media about shampoo and conditioner bars but have always struggled with the idea of a bar conditioner. In theory it's great but what if I pay the usually large price and it's horrible or doesnt work at all. So the chance to try the Ahhh... Manuka honey and vanilla conditioner bar was a great opportunity to finally take that step.

I have tried and loved the Ahhh... Manuka honey and almond shampoo bar so my hope's and standards are set high for the conditioner bar. First thing I noticed is that the packaging is very similar to the shampoo bar with the cardboard box with a hint of yellow. I do like the packaging but as theres not a lot of difference I would really need to take note of what I'm purchasing if stacked together on a shelf. The address and website are located on the bottom and it's great to see a locally made product. The back of the box has the information just as the shampoo bar, with the how to use instructions clearly laid out with the ingredients underneath. One thing I have noticed on the conditioner bar is that there are a few more ingredients I am unaware of. But the fact its SLS/SLES and paraben free and natural ingredients are used eases the mind a little.

The smell is just as gorgeous as the shampoo bar but more of a vanilla smell with a possible hint of coconut. On opening the box I was expecting something similar to the shampoo bar. The conditioner bar was white and although still circular was thicker than the shampoo bar.

We tried on my daughters hair first. Her hair is mid length and thin. Also being five it always has other things in there too as well as a lot of knots. I followed the instructions but I didn't feel that the conditioner bar was as easy to apply as the shampoo bar. It didn't foam and I was unsure I had got enough in her hair. We rinsed it out and towel dried. On brushing her hair I noticed that there were still a number of knots so questioned if I had done it incorrectly or the possibility that the conditioner bar is not as good as standard conditioner.

I then tried on my hair. The shampoo bar had stripped my hair so I was looking for a bit of moisture to be put back in. I struggled a bit but thought I got it ok. Once dried it still felt a bit dry but I wasn't going to give up. I felt this was a user's issue over the product itself. We have continued to use the conditioner bar over the last week and I think I have now got the application right. My hair feels great and my daughter has been commenting on how soft and silky our hair is.

Overall, the conditioner bar was a bit hard to get right in the beginning but now I feel I have it down and love it. The box states 50-70 washes per bar so if I can get anywhere near that I think $12.99 is great value. We go through a lot of conditioner so the bar may be a savings in more than one way. I would recommend the Ahhh... manuka honey and vanilla conditioner bar to anyone who is wanting to change to a bar conditioner as I am currently loving the way my hair is feeling.
