Miniwings #3: Oceana's Kitty Catastrophe product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsSshh ... NOT for parents! You can keep a SECRET, right?

Clara and I have a herd of tiny, talking, splishy-splashy, flying horses - and they're REAL! It's true.

Those naughty Miniwings get us into so much TROUBLE. Who would have thought a weekend at Nana's could lead to a complete KITTY CATASTROPHE!

Taking the Advice that was pointed out in the book that this is NOT for parents I passed it on to my eight-year-old daughter who is an avid fan of unicorns and fantasy. She absolutely loved this book and now that we have discovered this is the third book in the series have to keep an eye out for the previous two. The story is about the adventure of two girls going to Nana's house and the tiny, talking, whizzie-whooshy, talking horse's known as miniwing's causing mischief.
This is a great story for the younger children who are getting started on reading chapter based stories as the chapters are fairly short and I love how the book emphases its important notes by making the words bold and changing the fonts to signify it is a word to take note of.The illustrations (pictured) are fantastic and the colour scheme is perfect for the setting of the story. I also like how they have included a dictionary at the back of the book to describe their imaginative words they use throughout the story. Another great addition to the story is at the beginning of the book there is a brief rundown on each of the miniwings with their names and pictures.
Both my daughter and I recommend this story and look forward to reading more from this series as it is very well written and children can relate to the antics that play out in the story.

Ever since I started to read many, many years ago, I have been an avid reader or for a better term, a bookworm. I always hoped that I would be able to pass my passion for reading on to my children. My six year old daughter is certainly following in my steps, she can be found most nights sneaking out after lights out to try read under the hallway lights. We first found out about the Miniwings series of books from the KIWIreviews site. We were lucky enough to be selected to review the first book, and after finishing the book we were both eager to continue reading the series. For anyone who doesn't know about the Mini wings, they are described as "a herd of tiny, talking, whizzie-whooshy, flying horses." Whenever the Miniwings are around there is bound to be excitement and drama. The books are well-written and just perfect for my daughter to read by herself, or for us to read together.

In this story, Clara and Sophia are trying to convince their parents that they should be allowed to get some kind of pet. Their parents drop the girls off at their grandparents' place to stay for a night. This is where the drama takes place involving the mischievous horses and a lot of cats, as the grandparents own a cattery. That day a lady was coming to inspect the cattery so everything needed to go well. Unfortunately the Miniwings managed to let the cats escape. Therefore Sophia and Clara had to figure out a way to get all the cats safely back inside before the inspector arrives.

My daughter and I highly recommend this story and no doubt we will be re-reading it again several more times. We found that the words are good for children who are just starting on chapter books. The illustrations throughout the book are gorgeous and make it very easy to visualize the Miniwings as if they are real creatures.
