Killer Game product reviews

This is killer and you have been invited to play. And you should play like your life depends on it.

At Cate's isolated boarding school, Killer Game is a tradition. Only a select few are invited to play. They must avoid being 'killed' by a series of thrilling pranks, and identify the 'murderer'. But this time, it's different: the game stops feeling fake and starts getting dangerous - and Cate's the next target. Can they find the culprit... before it's too late?

I loved the story, the game sounds a lot like those murder mystery deals but someone was not playing a game. Most the characters are well written and rather imaginative. Typical teenagers so lots of twists and turns in the plot, although I was able to work out who was trying to kill Cate and shy there were parts that had me thinking I was wrong and that another character had just as strong reason so I was not shocked at the end of the book to find out that my first suspect and motive was correct. The "killer" in the game was a lot harder to work out but then I wasn't trying to solve it as I was more interested in seeing who was using the game as a cover.

This is not the type of book for kids or squeamish readers. The pages kept turning and it was great following the story, there was backstabbing and romance. There was a part in the book that was a bit physical (typical boy thinking that no means yes) but glad to see it resolved without violence, although an adult should have been told most know that in such a situation nothing tends to be done so I feel the character handled the situation in the best way. Rules were often broken but for the sake of the story they had to be.

I haven't heard of chicken house before but now I will be watching for the books.

I like Chicken House books and was happy to get one of these books to review recently, my main interest in the book was to see if they could not only keep my interest but provide me with a surprise ending, and it mostly did that though there were a couple of moments where I didn't like the book. The ending had me hooked, it kept a good pace and I really wanted to know how it was going to end and just where everything was leading to though some bits felt a little over the top.

My major dislike for this book is that there is a moment where a character forces a kiss upon another and there is a moment where she has to fight him off... Now it's not the fact that this is in the book, it's fine, we need portrayals of it, but what I don't think they should have done is effectively brush it off when it wouldn't have taken anything away from the book for them to have the character reporting the event to a teacher (after all it's what should happen in real life).

There's plenty going on in this book, more than one thing that you need to work out and it keeps you interested. I mostly enjoyed the book but not sure I'll read it again.

My daughter and I enjoy a good horror book oe movie so I was very keen on this book. I have read other chicken house books in the past and thoroughly enjoyed rhwm. The authors involved with chicken house certainly know how to write a good horror read.

The book certainly didn't fail in getting me on the edge of my seat as the game 'killer' gets really heated up. The game is a very serious college horror game for a bit of fun but it involves initiation and a set of challenges sort of like a action cluedo. It sounds like a pretty fun game although very American sounding to me like a college fraternity prank. However the book is set in Wales so a little different.

The book follows through the voice of Cate who is at the centre of the storyline and it seems the games most wanted kill. But luxk is on Cates side as a blast from the past arrives and he's the perfect level of clever to see Cate safe. I wont give too much of the storyline away but will say it is a very good one. Kept me guessing who the killer was tp the very end.

The author is clever in making you suspect the wrong killer with very thought out pieces of information that will have you second guessing the killer from chapter to chapter and although at one point I had guessed the right killer at the very next chapter I would change my mind again. Like I said clever plot twists all around!

Bit of a love story going on at the same time so you are left not only hoping characters will stay alive but that romances will work out too and turning Page after page to find out what would happen next. Cate was a very likeable character so I definitely connected with her and wanted to see her get what she deserves so I was left satisfied with the ending.

Product image for RottenA gripping tale of a troubled teenager and a rescued rottweiler from critically acclaimed author Michael Northrop.

J.D. is back in town after spending the summer "upstate". No one believes his cover story about visiting his aunt, and it's pretty clear that he has something to hide. It's also pretty clear that his mom made a new friend while he was away - a rescued rottweiler that J.D. immediately renames Johnny Rotten (yes ... more...
