Step Dave product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsStep Dave is a New Zealand comedy drama TV series on DVD.

Dave, a 24-year-old ordinary kiwi slacker, finds his life turned upside down when he meets the girl of his dreams - Cara - and her three kids. Step Dave is a light-hearted, feel-good family drama which demonstrates one of the realities of modern life - that families come in all different shapes and sizes.

In this TV Show, home is where the heart is - even if that home is crammed full of kids, teenagers, ex-mother-in-laws and hangers-on. Can this unconventional relationship survive the age difference and the pressures of the multi-generational household? Can Dave step up (no pun intended) and be a proper parent? Should he even try to? Can this unruly bunch live happily ever after as one big happy family?

I was really pleased to be given the chance to review Step Dave season one as I have managed to catch a couple of episodes on TV but missed most of the show, what I did see made me want to watch the whole season.

Being a New Zealand show I didn't hold out that much hope that I would enjoy the series. I find with most New Zealand shows they start out well and they run out of steam after a few episodes I'm pleased to say with Step Dave that's not the case. I enjoyed it right till the end of the season and already find myself hanging out for season two. The characters are so loveable you connect with them straight away and after the final episode you find yourself just wanting to know how things turn out for them.

Step Dave has the perfect mix of comedy and drama. It touches on so many real life topics that most people have probably found themselves facing at some stage through their life. The main character is Dave a loveable carefree 24 year old who's whole life is turned upside down when he meets and falls in love with a 39 year old divorced mother of 3 Cara. The season follows the ups and downs in their busy lives as they try and work out if they can over come the age difference, the lifestyle differences and all the barriers standing in their way to became a couple. Does love really conquer all?

As well as following the struggles of Dave and Cara there is a lot of side stories with their friends and family which once again address lots of issues all of us can relate to. I think it's one of the things that makes the show so watchable. Step Dave is the best new show in a long time and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already!
