Bye! Bye! Bye! product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsA little girl says tearful goodbyes to her home full of pets as the family prepares to leave on summer holiday, pretending all along that it is the pets that are sad, not her. Kitten, mouse, frog, fish and duck all get a careful farewell, but actually what harm is there? Surely they can all fit.

WOW what a book, all about a little girl saying bye to her pets, funny enough my 6 year old enjoyed this book but she said it was making her sad until the end she was happy again, she would read it to her brother and he would start to do the words with her. We would read the book over and over just so they could get to the last part of the book.

The words are simple for those starting to read, they are simple enough for you to read over and over and children get the idea of the story and able to start reading it with you but also looking at the pictures it tells you who we are saying bye too. The words having some rhyming going on aswell which is great for kids, they love rhyming stories they are so much fun.

Its very well done and relates to my kids when we go away and have to leave our cat behind, but he does actually stay home which they don't like, I think this book as given them ideas so I better check the car and bags before we go away. Its a good book and I would be happy to buy it as a gift for a young child and tell others about this book.

Wow, was the first word that came to mind when I opened my review package and picked up this book. I was instantly in love with the pictures they were amazing! While a lot of kids book feature bright in your face pictures, which is sometimes a little too much for really young children as they get distracted easy, this book features the most amazing pastel pictures. Reading through the book I couldn't wait to read it to the children at work the next day. I just knew it was going to be a big hit!

The next day I sat down with a group of 5 nearly 2 year olds and pulled out the book. With that age groups I was expecting like normal to get half way through the book and have them lose interest and move away. They didn't happen though I had 5 at the start of the book and 5 still sitting asking for more at the end of the book! Of course we had to read it a second time once again I had children who didn't move. By the second time through they had picked up the pattern of the story and as I got to the page that said Bye, bye, bye they started saying it with me.

I was amazed with how engaged the children were with the book. Not only with the pictures but also the story. It's hard for a book to engage such young children for more than a page or two. Bye, bye, bye engaged them for three read through and even then there were a couple who wanted to keep looking at it. For the rest of the day every time books were mentioned I had requests for Bye. By the end of the day not only were they saying bye but a couple of the children were naming the animals in the book too, Pretty kitty and fuzzy mouse seem to be the favourites.

Juliette MacIver & Stephanie Junovich Have created the most amazing and engaging book I have introduced to the children I work with to in a long time. It has quickly became a favourite and I can see us revisiting it several times a day for a long time to come. I recommend the book to anyone with young children.

Product image for My New Zealand Story: Dawn RaidThrough her spirited and heartfelt diary entries, we join Sofia as she navigates life in 1970s New Zealand. She is a typical 13-year-old girl: her main worries are how to get some groovy go-go boots, and how not to die of embarrassment giving a speech at school!

But when her older brother starts talking about protest and overstayers, and how Pacific Islanders are being bullied by the police, a shadow is cast over her sunny teenage ... more...
