Well, you see some unusual goodies when you do product reviews... and I have seen a few alright. Thinking about pendrives/flashdrive/thumbdrives - call them what you will - I will admit this is *not* the strangest or most unlikely... but it sure is close.

This unit is pretty tiny... at a mere 4cm long and less than 2cm wide, and a very catwalkesque 7mm thick, it has such a slim profile you could be forgiven for thinking that perhaps it was designed for high speed, low drag use underwater. OK, no, you wouldn't be forgiven, because that's just silly. But it *looks* very dolphin-friendly. With it's lightweight plastic shell, it weighs in at a svelt 2.5 grams - much lighter than any other 4gb drive we have ever assessed.

The upside of this slim-fit design: Even in laptop, who are notorious for having their USB ports jammed together so that using one blocked the other... this baby won't. OK, if there is something already in one of the ports that *is* blocking access, no slimline drive is going to fit anyways, but this is an excellent start, and great if the other device is also smart enough not to block neighbouring ports too. (eg. External hard drive cables.)

Transfer speed, well now... it wasn't the greatest we've seen but it certainly wasn't the worst we have encountered either. You won't break any speed records with it, but it certainly will do the job of carrying say 6 of your favourite movies, a few thousand songs, or a good week's worth of holiday snaps - and let's face it, that's the real issue isn't it. How much can it hold, and how well will it function? Plenty, and fairly well indeed.

Overall, this one is winner in enough areas that it certainly somes out looking sweet. Small, light, capacious, and best yet... affordable at around $20.00 give or take, depending where you buy it. Even though it feels flimsy, we had no success in attempting to open it by means fair or foul... it's a sturdy little unit alright. As best as I could determine, without actually going as far, the only way to really give this thing a real headache would be to sandwich it between two steel plates and run it over with a car. Looks great on a keyring too. Wink Icon
