âœSo then the goblins gave you a strongly worded petition?â, âœWhat? No, they just chased me with broomsâ. I first discovered Phoebe and her unicorn a few years back when my youngest brought one home from the library, and immediately enjoyed Marigolds (the unicorn) character - she made me think of Data from Star Trek with a great streak of sarcasm at times. This book gives us two longer stories (instead of the usual short strips), one in which they try to solve the mystery as to why Marigold's powers and the town's electricity are affected and another where they head to drama camp.

The first story had me chuckling a few times, especially when we are told two versions of the same story - one from some goblins as an ancient myth and one from the dragon who was there when it all happened. The second story wasnâ ™t as funny but did have a nice lesson to it, about jealousy when your bestie is spending lots of time with someone else and about mending fences when you have had a disagreement or such. The illustrations are fun, though there were a couple of moments when we are viewing the characters from a distance and their eyes looked as if they were a last thought addition and didnâ ™t fit.

I didnâ ™t enjoy this book as much as I have others in this series, but if you like self-absorbed unicorns with a dash of sarcasm, then Iâ ™d recommend this for your reading pleasure.

His daughter Eve is a glassblower, and the murder weapon is a shard of one of her broken glasses.

Dr Yeo seems an unlikely murder victim. He is a good man, a public servant, ... more...
