Kiwi Corkers: The Three Little Lambs product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsLittle lamb, little lamb, Let me come in!
No! Not by the wool on my skinny-skin-skin!

Kiwi kids will love this home-grown version of The Three Little Pigs, where a giant weasel is substituted for the big bad wolf, and the houses are made from ferns, paua shells and hangi stones!

I have to say I love this book, and it went into my pile of favourite preschool stories, after the first time I read it. Every single page made me smile, and feel connected to the story because of all the unique kiwi references. The images capture our culture, and the icons that are unique to New Zealand.

There is the familiar feel of the three little pigs, but it is such a unique twist and a distinctly kiwi feel to this book. Personally as a teacher I have been working hard to incorporate more Maori into my interactions with my pre-schoolers, this book very naturally weaves te reo throughout the story. The text rhymes, and has a predictable flow to the story, and the first time I read it, by the time I was half way through the children had picked up the rhythm of the story and they were calling out, āœLittle lamb, little lamb let me come inā and giggling away at the ā˜changeā ™ to the familiar story. I can see that the more this is read the more that children will delight in joining in and helping to ā˜readā ™ the story. The images are clear, and the children were captivated by them.

I think that this book is wonderful value for money, and will be one of those books that becomes a treasured part of family life. I will be recommending it to the parents who attend our preschool, I can see this will be a favourite with all our tamariki, and also it would be a fantastic gift to give if you have preschool family overseas.

Written by J.D. Robb

Product image for Survivor in DeathThe only thing that kept young Nixie Swisher from suffering the same fate as her parents, brother, housekeeper, and young sleepover companion was the impulsive nine-year-old's desire for an illicit orange fizzy at 2 a.m. Taking the bereft girl under her wing, Eve is determined to make sure the killers don't get the chance to finish their lethal job. From the first, however, the investigation is baffling. The Swishers were a nice ... more...
