I have read the first Dragon Knight book Fire and remember really enjoying it, unfortunately I have not read any of the other books until I received this today to review. Only a couple pages into the story and I was already hooked and the characters thankfully returned to me and I knew basically what was happening. In saying that, it is actually a book you could read without having to read the rest of the series and you wouldn't feel like you are missing out on anything.

A very quick easy read and one I am sure my daughter will love to read in the future. The chapters are only about 10 - 12 pages long and most pages contain a picture which takes up a lot of the page if not the whole page. The pictures are amazing and so vivid and give so much information out it is like they are telling their own story. They are in black and white and surprisingly that does not effect the quality at all.

The first few pages of the book give a detailed map of the village and the surrounding areas and also pictures of all the main characters. Throughout the book there are also more amazing pictures on various subjects like a Knights Armour or a very clever break down of "Sir Tain Legends". Definitely a very clever entertaining book. It feeds you a lot of information in such a short time and I absolutely adore the Dragon pictures.

The story is witty and informative and although it slows down in a couple of areas it is not long before it picks up speed again. For any dragon lovers out there this is a must read. I think this book would suit children from the age of about nine to read comfortably by themselves and children from the age of seven to read with their parents.

I was lucky enough to win this from KIWIreviews and was super excited about getting it. I am trying to find books my son will be interested when he gets into the next stage of reading longer books and it is abit hard but I've seen this series as what boy doesn't love dragons and Knights. My son is only 7 so this book is still a little bit too big for him to read so I read this myself to see what it was about.

Dragon Knight Joust is the 5th book in the series written by Kyle Mewburn and Donovan Bixley about a boy called Merek who is a dragon but can shape shift into a human. This story is set in medieval times as is based on his Knight school class having jousting lessons. The book is approx 96 pages long with lots of cartoonist drawings along the way.

I think this book would suit kids in the 9-10yr range or younger kids who are very confident in their reading skills. I found this book quite entertaining it did take a little to keep my interest but then I'm not a 10yr old boy haha. I did find it funny as it had quite a few funny puns that parents would get. I see they also write a series called Dinosaur rescue so they really seem to be targeting the boy fan base which is awesome.

I love Scholastic books they are such good quality and really reasonably priced especially in the kids lucky book clubs that come home from school. I would definitely recommend this book and would be really keen to read some of the other ones and hope my son finds it funny to read like I did.

'What? With those spikes? Get away from me! Shoo!'

All this little porcupine wants is a hug. But with such prickly spikes, will she ever get the cuddle she craves? A truly adorable tale from the best-selling creator of Pig the Pug and Thelma the Unicorn.
