On the weekend I decided to get out the bread maker to make some bread with Miss 2 for lunch as she had been asking to do so ever since seeing bread being made at daycare during the week. We went to the supermarket and came across the Edmonds Soft White Bread Mix in the baking section and so decided to make this, it seemed very simple and didn't require many ingredients, the packet said that it had enough dry mix to create 3 loaves of bread which I thought was pretty good for the price.

The bread was super easy to make, I choose to make it in the bread maker although there are also instructions to make it by hand, all you have to do is measure out the white bread mix, yeast and water and pour them into the bread pan in the order given, this was a great task for Miss 2 to do. Although the instructions say to set the bread maker to the 'bake' setting, we changed our minds and decided to set it to the 'dough' setting so that we could make bacon and cheese rolls and iced pink buns which meant they needed to be shaped and then baked in the oven.

The dough took about an hour to be kneaded and have time to rise. Once the dough was ready we took it out of the bread maker and placed it onto the kitchen bench to shape, the dough came out a really good consistency and wasn't at all sticky which meant that we didn't require any extra flour to stop it from sticky. The one thing about this dough was that it wasn't the best for rolling due to the elasticity of it but it seemed to shape well with us shaping it into circles which we topped with cheese and bacon, and into finger shapes before placing in the oven to cook at 210c for about 15 minutes.

The bread smelt lovely as it cooked in the oven and came out golden brown on the outside, we topped the fingers with pink icing once they had cooled down and Miss 2 had fun topping them with sprinkles, chocolate chips and mini m&ms. The bread was beautiful and soft in the inside and definitely had the fresh factor to it. The packet says that if baking a loaf of bread in the oven that it will only require 20-25 minutes of cooking, but i'm pretty certain it would require more time due to the size comparison of what we made to a loaf of bread.

A fun and easy way to make bread which I would probably use every now and then.
