Elvis - by the Presleys product reviews

Elvis by the Presleys is the most revealing and poignant video portrait we will ever see of the artist as husband, father and friend. As never before, Priscilla Presley and Lisa-Marie Presley, along with members of Elvis' family and extended family, freely share their own stories, emotions and intimate memories on camera, and they allow us to enjoy home-movie footage of Elvis never before shared with his fans.

This double-DVD set also includes live performance footage from every stage of his career, plus clips from newsreels, interviews, film and TV appearances. It reveals Elvis as a more compelling figure than ever, a King made of flesh and blood. This highly personalized history makes his meteoric rise seem that much more spectacular, his artistic triumphs that much more impressive, his career and personal missteps that much more understandable, his enduring popularity that much more inevitable.

We all know about the icon, with Elvis by the Presleys, we're finally getting to appreciate the man, guided by those who knew him the best.

As much as I love Elvis Presley, this was not at all what I had expected. Although this movie suggested that this was about personal memories of Elvis, it was not so much. Yes there was plenty of stories, some heart felt, mostly it seemed that this was made solely for Priscilla to blow her own trumpet. She made claim to many of Elvis' successes as if she were the reason behind them. There was a lot of trying to put to rest many rumours over the years, her having her say. Her parents on the other hand were very open and it was very clear they really miss Elvis.

Jerry Schilling was very sincere and what he had to say was very insightful. It was very clear they were friends.

Lisa-Marie, this was the first time I had heard her talk about her father, I'm sure this was not the first time, lol, but first for me, and at times it was very hard for her to continue what she was saying.

There was a lot of footage I had never seen before, but at the same time the footage shown was to prove what was being said by the different Presleys'.

All in all, parts of it I really enjoyed and learned things I didn't already know. It was nice to hear from Vernon Presley, all the doco's and movie's don't really hear a lot from Vernon, and although it was very minimal it was good :)
