I liked the sound of the story line, I mean how cool would it be to be able to travel back into your great grandparents time as youngsters and see how they lived and what they were like as kids especially for some people who don't know much about family history.

I really liked the characters, Ben is a bit grouchy about having to move to the caravan so that his great grandpa can use his room but that is totally understandable and he is having a tough time with his best friend. The one character that was horrible in the beginning was just as horrible in the end but good to read he finally got what he deserved.

I found that the story was easy to read and follow, there were no lengthy explanations and no hard to understand concepts and at least Ben and Poppa did realise that they can't change the history too much or the future wouldn't happen so Ben had to be real careful about what he said and how he said it and they came up with a great way to explain what was happening to George (Poppa) so that he could help Ben.

It is great to see the New Zealand authors that are passionate about their work and writing books that kids would love to read, will be looking out for more of her books as I have 3 kids who absolutely love reading.

I enjoy the concept of time travel and all the variables that comes with it, from how they travel (whether it be by DeLorean, special abilities or TARDIS) to the range of 'rules' and how much one can change before it becomes too much and you have damaged or changed the future far too much.

Ben is a twelve year old boy who has just been moved out into the caravan so that his Great Grandfather can have his bedroom to stay in whilst his new home is being built. Suddenly, his best friend has a new mate that he hangs with all the time, who is starting to cause a rift between the two friends and lead Zac down a bad path. But things suddenly get crazier when Ben discovers that by his Poppa thinking about past events, he can hold his hand and be transported back in time to encounter his Poppa as a twelve year old boy.

I like the concept around why this works, from the reason why so many old folks are sitting in their chairs looking like they're asleep all the time to why it worked for Ben to travel in time but never happened with any other family member. Ben and Poppa are decent characters though I far more enjoyed George (Poppa) than any other character in the book. I sat down to read this while my friend was in an appointment and it took me about an hour all up to read.

A fun time travel book set in good old NZ. :)
