Dark Blood product reviews

The new Logan McRae novel set in gritty Aberdeen from the bestselling author of Cold Granite and Blind Eye. Richard Knox has served his time, so why shouldn't he be allowed to live wherever he wants? Yes, in the past he was a violent rapist, but he's seen the error of his ways. Found God. Wants to leave his dark past in Newcastle behind him and make a new start. Or so he says. Detective Sergeant Logan McRae isn't exactly thrilled to be part of the team helping Knox settle into his new Aberdeen home.

He's even less thrilled to be stuck with DSI Danby from Northumbria Police -- the man who put Knox behind bars for ten years -- supposedly here to 'keep an eye on things'. Only things are about to go very, very wrong. Edinburgh gangster Malk the Knife wants a slice of the development boom Donald Trump's golf course is bringing to the Granite City, whether local crime lord Wee Hamish Mowat likes it or not. Three heavies from Newcastle want a 'quiet word' with DSI Danby about a missing mob accountant. And Richard Knox's dark past isn't done with him yet!

I'm really enjoying reading this series, the people are real and make mistakes and wrong assumptions.

There is enough details without specific details so you can imagine being there without a graphic mental image as it deals with rehabilitating a rapist who claims he found God. How do the police handle keeping the public safe? Do the public have the right to know where the offender is living? What happens when the public find him and run him off? Cops are on the take, how do they hide that and keep it hidden. The biggest question is what interest does DI Danby have in this case?

I had borrowed this from the library and will now be looking for a copy for myself. I love how the characters are growing, there are the main characters and then the ones that are just in for the story and some that leave for a while and then return. The book was a bit gory but I'm glad that the specific details weren't used, as my imagination was enough and that is the good thing about books, your mind can take you anywhere.

I see that there are a few more books in the series so I'm going to be looking out for the rest. A good Christmas present would be the books of Stuart MacBride that I'm missing.
