Bad Dog Flash product reviews

Poor Flash! Trouble seems to follow him around...

Flash is a playful young puppy. Unfortunately, his play seems to get him into trouble all the time, whether it be chasing the cat, digging a hole in the garden to hide (or find) his bone, or even just bringing a stick to the door! But when all's said and done, he's a much-loved pet.

I read this to my children tonight separately. Two very different kids and two quite different responses. Firstly, I sat down with miss 20 months. I sat her on my knee and we started the book. I hoped that she would sit nicely for me but she isn't there yet. She only wanted to read the book on her terms. She got frustrated that I wouldn't let her hold the book and got rough about it. I managed to calm her down and read the book in a different set up where she just listened away from me. That worked better and she seemed to enjoy it, nodding happily. However, she really wanted to hold and flip through the book more.

Miss 6 sat happily with me, leaning in to look at the pages. She was able to read a couple of words for me, and I found the simple text with the corresponding image really helped her determine the words. She is not yet a strong reader so we found that good. She enjoyed the mischief the puppy gets up to and the feel good factor too.

The illustrations are cute. The puppy is so cheeky, in every picture. You can really imagine the trouble he is getting up to, and the sounds of his naughtiness. Overall I found this to be a cute and quick read. One for the evening when you just really need to get them in bed and asleep quickly.

This book probably best suited my two year old, being way too basic for Miss Five and Miss Six. Having said that though because the words are in large print and the words are minimal i.e "Nice bone. Good bone.", I have been encouraging Miss Five to read it to help her with reading.

The story is about Flash the dog who is rather naughty and gets into lots of trouble. I like the simplicity of the story and it is quite funny though I am not sure Miss two gets the funniness. She does like the pictures of Flash and of his bone and we do a lot of pointing at objects and naming so it is helping with her vocabulary. I do enjoy reading this with her and think that this is probably ideally suited to ages three and under but also a good book to get your older children to read to their younger siblings.

This would make a lovely gift especially if you can get it on sale.

I love this book and have already read it to my son several times and he also really enjoys it. I think he could probably quite relate to flash always getting in trouble and hearing the word no as he is always up to mischief him self.

Reading the story of the little dog whose antics always seem to run him into trouble make you feel quite sorry for him although it makes you giggle at some of the things he gets up to. At the end though you see that flash is a very loved puppy and is in fact a good dog which has to make you smile.

I love the pictures in this book and in fact I find they tell a lot of the story as some of the words don't show what flash has actually done. For example when he gets the stick stuck the words only tell that the stick is stuck you don't see that the reason it is stuck is that flash has tried to get through a door that the stick is too wide for so that the stick has smashed through the glass door.

I would recommend this book to any one with pre school children as it is such a good story and people could easily fall in love with the loveable character Flash.
