Absolutely Fabulous was originally a short sketch on the French and Saunders show. That spark of an idea fuelled Jennifer Saunders into writing more about this crazy mother, daughter combo fleshing it out with a boozy best friend and a dotty old mother too. This has been one of my favourite things I have seen Jennifer Saunders in. Despite all the disparaging remarks on her character's figure, I think she absolutely shines as main character Edwina.

Joanna Lumley makes a fabulous Patsy, the slightly older peer-pressuring ex model friend. The character is just awful really, but that's what makes her brilliant. She was the original cougar. Deep inside both women are still trapped in their spotty teenage fears about the world and how they are perceived. So there is lots of episodes full of trying to be more Absolutely Fabulous outwardly, than how they might feel inside.

I love the dynamic between Saffy and Edwina. That mother daughter reversal is quite clever. Slowly over the course of the seasons, you see Saffy grow and change as a woman herself. She takes a few risks, making her mother proud of her. Of course, Eddie never grows up, but I think Saffy seems to start to understand her mother better with age. And then there is Eddie's mother, played by June Whitfield. An awesome actress in her own right, she plays "dumb" so beautifully. Overall, a great show with lots of laughs but enough heart to make you come back for more.

Product image for How I Met Your Mother: Season FiveThe gang's all back for yet another season of this popular CBS sitcom, centered on Ted Mosby's (Josh Radnor) hilarious accounts of single life and his search for the eventual mother of his two children. The Emmy Award-winning series also stars Golden Globe nominee Neil Patrick Harris as Ted's womanizing pal Barney, Jason Segel as his best friend, Marshall, and Alyson Hannigan as Marshall's longtime girlfriend, Lily.
