Wolves of the Beyond - Spirit Wolf product reviews

No one ever saw Faolan as a leader. Banished as a pup, he survived and returned as a gnaw wolf - the lowest member of the wolf pack. But Faolan wasn't meant to be a gnaw wolf. It's not just his strange, splayed paw, or his uncanny connection with the bears. There's something about Faolan that inspires certain wolves... and leaves others deeply suspicious.

Now, with a dangerous threat on the horizon, the pack must make a choice. Will they trust the silver outsider with the task of leading the battle? If Faolan can't fulfill his destiny, it could be the end of the wolves of the Beyond.

Spirit Wolf is the fifth book in the Wolves of the Beyond series by Kathryn Lasky, and unfortunately for me, the first one I have read. Although I have missed the first four books in the series I have really enjoyed reading this one, and am now going to get the first four books.

Although the fifth in the series it was easy to understand what was happening within the story and to follow, although it would have helped to have read the first four to have a proper understanding of some of the things in the book, and it would have helped to piece some things together, it was not necessary. The story was awesome! Although at times I did think, man I wish I'd read the first ones, it did not deter me from reading further.

The background of Faolan, the main (wolf) character in the book, was reasonably easy to piece together to gain an understanding, and in doing so the rest of the story came together nicely. Although the book was about wolves and other animals, making the level of realism slightly less than a book about humans, it was still believable enough. Written in a way that one could almost believe that wolves do behave and live in a very similar way to humans: talking, holding on to things, building etc just as humans do.

The story is a sad, yet happy story filled with grief and sadness yet accompanied with a sense of joy when the animals accomplished something humans would think impossible for animals, such as the great chain to save one of their own of an icy ledge. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, finishing it in a day.

The cover had my attention from the start, I love wolves too so was already keen to read it. I would be happy to pay $21.00 for this and others in the series and can not wait to read more about Faolon, his sisters and friends.

Product image for The Sex Lives of Siamese TwinsWhen Lucy Brennan, a Miami Beach personal-fitness trainer, disarms a gunman chasing two frightened homeless men, the police and the breaking-news cameras are not far behind and, within hours, Lucy is a media hero. The solitary eye-witness is the depressed and overweight Lena Sorensen, who becomes obsessed with Lucy and signs up as her client - though she seems more interested in the trainer's body than her own. When the two women find ... more...
