Dinosaur Rescue 6 - Dako-snappysaurus product reviews

It's time for another hunting trip at Arg's village, and Arg finally gets to join them! With him he brings nothing but a large sack of supplies, his spear, and his pet Microceratops Krrk-Krrk on the dangerous road to their destination. The hunters go out to the sea to hunt fish but end up staying the night on the beach while the tide begins to come in.

When Arg awakens he discovers that his father and pet are stranded out in the sea in which a deadly Dakosaurus swims. Arg must find out how to save his friends from the Dakosaurus before they both end up inside the dinosaur's stomach.

We just finished reading Kyle Mewburn's latest offering in the Dinosaur Rescue series, Dako-snappysaurus. I couldn't wait to show my daughter it when I received it. Miss 5 is totally into dinosaurs, and has a large selection of dinosaur models and other large pre-historic reptiles. This series of books is her favourite to sit down with us and read.

The series itself is beyond her current reading skill, but I love that these are 5 short chapters. So in theory you can do a chapter a night during weekdays. However, I finished this in two nights because she was so keen to hear the whole thing immediately. There were big tears the first night when I stopped at chapter 1. "just one more mummy!". But I would have heard that after each chapter til it was done so the answer was "no!".

The second night, we went to bed 30 minutes earlier so I could say "yes", and four chapters later she was very satisfied. This one is not as gross as others in the series. It does have some really gross things happen, bodily fluids, etc. But I wasn't dry retching my way through. Mewburn just has such a way with words, and is so descriptive that sometimes my brain starts to experience things a bit too realistically.

Bixley's pictures add so much to the experience too. Although black and white in the book, they are just delightful and sometimes really gross (but always fun) images. The cover art was, as always, vibrant and captivating. Not that you should judge a book by its cover, but in this case you are safe to.

I asked Miss 5 to add some of her own words to this review. She says this book is good and funny. It has dinosaurs, and her favourite cave boy (though she says he is a cave girl, must be the ringlet hair), Arg. She does not like Hng, she is mean. She thought the pictures were good, and she loves the dinosaurs and bug pictures the best.

The price is cheap, we re-read these all the time so you get a lot of use out of them. We can't wait to read more!

Okay, this book was actually rather good even though I didn't read the previous 2 stories! The cover design looked good, whoever did the artwork was obviously a great artist. I found that the story was written so that it made sense without the combined contexts of the last few books, except for the story of book 1 which is where the whole thing started and why the main character Arg started saving dinosaurs or stopping them from causing disaster.

I don't recommend this book for reading at mealtimes as there are a large fraction of disgusting parts that would cause might young kids to leave you with a big pile of their half-digested lunch to clean up. The book was very easy to read, it had good pictures that matched the story, and the sentences weren't short like many kids books. I think that a rough estimate of the age group would be 5-10 years of age, any children under 5 might have trouble understanding the book, and the age of 10 is only a medium since the maximum age depends on when kids have gotten bored of the story.

The price is good, the novel is big enough and of such a level of value to be be worth $12.00, so I have no reason not to give it a full thumbs-up. To sum this whole review up, the book was okay, a little bit gross and a good thing to read between meals.

Product reviews for listing 29: The World of Ptaavs
Written by Larry Niven

Product image for The World of PtaavsKzanol, a thrint, was a creature with telepathic power to dominate a world. But when it crash-landed on Earth, it went into a time stasis for 2 million years.

Larry Greenberg was also telepathic. Which caused some problems when physicists discovered a way to release Kzanol. For Larry found himself inside the murderous mind of the thrint.

The young telepath was faced with a frightening problem: he had to get out of the creature's mind... without losing his own.
