I picked up this book today for my daughter, and it couldn't have been better timing. She was sent home early from school feeling sick. So we came home, turned on the heater and got rugged up on the couch. We opened this book and I started reading.

This is another great title from Kyle Mewburn and Donovan Bixley, following the adventures of Arg the super smart cave boy and Skeet a friendly T-Rex. We have read the first book in the series and while this is the fifth book, I didn't feel like we missed much by not reading the books in between.

Again, Bixley's illustrations are magic. The cover art is so bright and fun, it made us instantly excited to read the book. Inside there are more black and white pictures, adding so much to Mewburn's words.

This is a chapter book for older children, but my 5 year old loves these books. She engages with the characters, enjoys the toilet humour (and there is lots!). I would normally make the book last a full 5 days but since she was home sick we read it in one sitting. It was reasonably quick to get through and lots of fun to read. So there are so many extras to enjoy on top of the story.

Have to say that I did find myself gagging a couple of times, so this book is not for the weak stomached. That said, it was still a pleasure to read. Thanks for letting us review this title.

This is my favourite Dinosuar Rescue book so far. Author Kyle Mewburn has still kept in some of the grotty stuff (like snot, farts and maggots) but it seemed a bit more toned down than previous books. (Thanks Kyle!) There was a lot of information about dinosaurs in this book and some funny (perhaps not so real.. ) information about cavemen that made me chuckle as I was reading this.

This story is about Arg and his friend Skeet as they try to save the lost valley from a Spinosaurus who has manged to find his way there.

Args dad comes to the rescue leaving Arg suspecting that there is a bit more to his Dad than meets the eye! Without spoiling the ending this is a lovely story about a boy and his dad which I think will really appeal to all the boy readers out there!

There are black and white illustrations on every page and they are brilliant. I really like the style Donovan Bixley has used as did Miss Four. We found ourselves laughing as we read through this book rather than feeling grossed out.

This isn't the sort of series I would normally buy for my girls but I think that this is a good series for boys and we will probably be reading this particular book over and over. If you are already hooked on the series then I think you will absolutely love this book and if you haven't read any then start with this and see what you think!
