I sit here writing this review on my iPad having recently applied the Gizmobies covers to it (yesterday).

Ease of application is exactly as stated in their brochure and on their website. I was expecting something so sticky to be a real pain to apply, but in this case it really was as easy as stated and only took a few minutes (yes, really!) and so to use.

I applied the Gizmobies yesterday, just before I went out for the day to give it a proper road test.

The back cover, was very easy to apply and looks very good in-situ, it's infinitely more preferable to those ugly plastic covers approved by Apple, and the grippy nature of this product makes the iPad very easy to hold on a bus between Auckland and Hamilton that was swaying and rocking like a boat on the high seas. Being easy to remove, if you get bored of the patten, you can always buy another and replace just as easily. I guess if you are of a fickle nature or a woman(!), you could always buy a library of colours and patterns to accessorize with your outfit or with your whim. The back cover also works very well with the smart covers as sold by Apple, and does not interfere with the controls or speakers.

The front panel to go on the screen was my least favourite of the Gizmobies. It was applied as easily as the other products. The product blurb says it doesn't interfere with the operation of the smart cover, but because the smart cover is a couple of mm away from the surface of the iPad you lose that magnetic snap that seals the cover. It also holds the microfiber surface away from the screen removing the cleaning aspect of the smart cover. The iPad does still switch off with the front panel applied and from that point of view, the front panel doesn't interfere with iPad operation.

If you don't have the smart cover, you may enjoy the front panel, I ended up removing it by the end of the day (and I do have to say it did remove cleanly). I wouldn't write this off completely, but it wasn't for me, but I do know it would appeal to my daughter.

The panels for the iPad smart cover were as easy to apply as the other Gizmobies and provides a matching set to go with the front and back panels. The panels applied to the front of the smart cover does not interfere with operation of magnetic snap, however I do find it less easy to fold the cover to prop the iPad up in the varying viewing positions, but I rarely do this anyway, and so these panels do not interfere with my use of the iPad.

In summary, I love the Gizmobies; their ease of application and their promise to come off cleanly made them worth a try. The fact there are so many patterns to choose from means there is something, somewhere that will appeal to you. The thickness of the Gizmobies gives some reassuring protection - far more so than the standard thin plastic parts one can buy from retailers. For the price, it is well worth a go.
