I bought this beer as the bottle talked about it being a local beer with no artifical colours or flavours and being made the old fashioned way . The bottle is really eye catching for this fact and drew me in to purchasing it. I quite like a good beer at a BBQ or just on a hot summer's day but I was not a big fan of this beer at all. To me it tasted like home brew which was probably the point but I wasn't fond of the taste. I found it hard to drink a bottle and it made me feel quite bloated and heavy.

It is more expensive than other beers and to most people it would probably be worth the money but for me personally I probably won't be buying it again. My partner on the other hand liked it but also said he could not drink as many of these as he could bottles of Waikato as it is a heavier beer.

Of all people my 6 year old daughter convinced me to buy it, she liked the name and my husband and I do enjoy trying different esp independent breweries.

Stoke Gold is a lovely drop, enjoyed in the sun with a BBQ, you can definitely taste the honey, and seemed to be to me not too light yet not too thick.

We have brought some to share with friends at a BBQ over the silly season and will definitely be recommending to them to try it.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to try this and while it was a bit stronger flavour than what I am used to, I didn't mind it too much. However I found that one bottle was more than enough for me.

To me it felt like I was drinking a thicker beer where I would normally prefer something a little lighter.

All in all, definitely a beer to drink if you prefer something with a fuller flavour.

Far more in line with the types of beer I tend to drink, this was a very delightful drop. Mellow, with the promised hints of honey sneaking through, there was still a subtle hops flavour that told you it was a real beer and not some ultra-purified water with colour and flavour added.

This beer was an absolute fave for me, though more than twice the price of my usual beer, I would happily buy it, though not as often.

Overall, an excellent drop. Not being one of those stuffed-shirt beer judges who bandy catch-phrases around, the best I can say is that for those who like the paler ales and lagers, this is certainly one you will enjoy.
