I have quite an extended family. Comes with the territory when you marry into a disposessed Scottish clan. So it was easy to find someone of the right age group to give this a test run. First off, the packaging is a nightmare but from what I have seen of toys in general these days that is pretty much to be expected. Safety regs wont allow for easy-to-remove packaging in case the goods fall out while on display in store shelves I suppose. But it also makes for a right pain in the butt when it comes time to unwrap the goodies at home. After 5 minutes struggle followed by a few seconds of brutal application of wirecutters the toy was fully unpacked. Second thing to take note of is that this train takes 'C' sized batteries which are not all that common. But a quick trip to the supermarket and we were up and running. I liked the way the balls could be set, with the aid of a simple lever, to either circulate around within the train, or be set to drop out the back for the little ones to capture and chase the train with. The noises were quite bearable although after an hour it was starting to grate the last nerve. The little ones gave it quite a beating so durability was impressive. After being mobbed by 4 very active kids all fighting over 3 balls and getting kicked, thrown and shoved around the room for nearly half an hour solid, it still operated without fault. All in all, a pretty good toy. A bit simple, but then theose are often the best kind for the wee ones.

This is a great product. The train has different functions depending on the ability level of baby. My baby loved sitting with the train between his legs and grabbing the balls as they popped out the top. He enjoyed the music, and when we switched it to move in a circle, he constantly watched it and tried to grab it as it went past. The only suggestion I would make, is for the music to last a little longer as each piece goes for about 10 seconds, otherwise fantastic.

Product reviews for listing 3048: Fun Mechanics Kit - Brush Robot -  Manufactured by 4M Industrial Development Ltd

Product image for Fun Mechanics Kit - Brush RobotThis nifty little robot will sweep you away! It scuttles along on two brushes, and is powered by rapid vibrations from an offset motor.

Most suitable for children over 8 years old, and unsuitable at all for children under 3 years old due to small parts.

Contains all the parts required to build the robot, but you will need to supply a small cross-head (phillips) screwdriver and 2x 1.5V 'AAA' batteries.
