While wandering around a local town fair, I heard some haunting tunes floating across the grounds. What really caught my attention was that I could clearly hear the melody over all the hustle and bustle of raffle ticket sellers, a clown blurting foolishness over a small amp and speaker rig, the PA prompting patrons towards the food stalls, etc.

Following the sounds I came across a lone man playing Andean Pipes next to a stall full of cultural icons from many of the Incan/Mayan based cultures. With various sets of pipes draped around his neck like a tourist with cameras, he was playing a range of tunes and melodies with such smooth skill, there were times I swear he was playing two sets of pipes at the same time. The talent was obvious...

After half an hour, my compatriots and I wandered off to explore the rest of the stalls and shows, only to return afterwards, drawn back by the ghostly tones of hollow bamboo pipes being played by a master. While the gifted young man played, I went and had a chat with his partner, and got a brief but accurate education into some of the instruments, most of which were available for purchase at the stall, and through their website. The more I listened to the music, the more I wanted to listen to more of it, so after a quick chat to arrange a good deal, we all walked away feeling very happy. Smile Icon

Overall, if you like the whole Pan Pipes style of music, then you are going to love this stuff. Look for them at town fairs, but your best option would be to contact and arrange purchase through their website.
