Peter Haeder is a long-time Buddhist with a profound mastery of deep voice chanting. Over the past five years, and much to the amusement of the Buddhist Lamas, he has married this with his German electronic roots. The result is outstanding. He fires up the world music scene, complementing his bass tonal deep voice singing with strong yet delicate layers of melodic structures and environmental sounds.

Peter developed the Singularity album during his meditation retreats at Sera Je Monastery in South India, where he also recorded some of the field material woven in to this exquisite album of cool ambiences and rich, authentic Buddhist chanting.

A very pleasant and effective CD to have on as ambient music when you're relaxing, studying or meditating, much like Emerald. The CD can be a bit repeptitive, and I may need to listen to it more because I suspect there is a subtlety there that I am missing.

Would I reccomend it? I'm not sure, but I did enjoy it, and like his album Emerald, as a New Age ambient CD this has substance and depth that the majority of that genre seem not to have.

Admittedly, this album would have never attracted me to pick it up, let alone listen to it; I'm glad I did - and listen to it is something I have done on a number of occasions now.

The Deep Voice Singing is unique to the Buddhist chanting, and to western ears, may sound a little strange to start with, but persevere and really listen to this album and one will get immense pleasure from it and a sense of serenity that the album's intonation gives us.

The Album raised a few eyebrows at work, but the general feeling was that it was a superb album, and one that could be played as ambient music in a store, rather than just meditated on. I had a number of customers offer very positive feedback on this album and wish to stay to listen to more.

Phaeder is a name that is new to me, but his double album (two CDs for the price of one) will encourage more people to listen to his ambient and relaxing sounds. I have never gone for 'relaxation' music, finding them too ethereal for my tastes; however, I did enjoy this one.
