My children are all keen readers (one is learning to read currently) and we are developing quite a library at home, as well as borrowing from our local library. One story had all 3 of my children captivated when we first borrowed it, and has been borrowed on numerous occasions - that book was the original Nee Naw story. When I saw that there was a Nee Naw and Friends Storytime collection book available I knew it would be a winner so requested it. To my children's delight when they opened the package, there was Nee Naw grinning on the cover. The cover certainly grabs your attention, there is Nee Naw proudly in the middle, surrounded by friends and it looks like some mischievous monkeys, my youngest guessed that a food fight might happen, I said we needed to read to find out. We opened the book and read the titles of the included stories and decided to start with Nee Naw...again..and progress from there. Throughout the book the images are vibrant, eye catching and suit each story. Each story is written in a rhyming way, which made it fun for me to read, and the kids enjoyed it too, however the part that had the children going crazy was the Nee Naw song. Beware readers this tune is remarkably catch and will stay in your head for days, I found myself humming it at the grocery store! Nee Naw! Nee Naw! The song is available to stream and adds to the experience. My youngest loved meeting Ellie Copter and seeing the teamwork between Nee Naw and her that was had to save the day. My daughter enjoyed the farm one best, and my other son and I enjoyed the story with those cheeky monkeys and their bananas. Throughout the book there is the underlying message of kindness and teamwork which I think are valuable lessons to teach kids, especially in the world we live in nowadays. We all cannot wait to see what new and exciting adventures Nee Naw and his friends will embark on next! Highly recommend this to all families with young children. |
