I have two kids who love marshmallows and one who is indecisive (they'll reject them for months and then happily eat a couple before rejecting them for a while again). I did warn my two marshmallow lovers not to eat too many due to the warning on the bag. They agreed that the bag is attractive and fits the product well and also made them feel like eating some right away. I was happy to open the bag and find none of the sweets stuck together, as can happen at times, and they felt nice and spongy. I managed to convince all three kids to give this a try so I could get their opinion (though only one was hard to convince).

We were all happy to find that the pink and white marshmallows did have a slight difference in taste (some brands they taste identical, which is always slightly disappointing) and whilst one of the kids felt it could have been a little sweeter, the other two thought that it was the perfect level of sweetness, as did I. I did end up finding that my youngest devoured at least half the packet in one sitting, but luckily for them there was no effect on them at all. My eldest then tried some with their coffee and decided that it paired well with it, didn't turn into a horrible texture and tasted good with it. All in all, this was a hit enough with the kids that we may buy this in the future.

I am not the world's biggest authority on marshmallows but these ones really hit the spot for our house. I liked you could see inside before you opened them too so I could gauge size and usage (I tend to bake with the little ones and add the big ones to hot chocolates and toasting. The labelling was really clear and they didn't stick together on taking out. They looked fun and a real treat from the packet. They met all the "not so bad for you" criteria and had clear messaging about what was inside which is important these days.

The taste was light, sweet, and fluffy as well as the distinction between the white and the pink was especially good. A good sweet taste and nothing too cloying for both colours. I would never have known these were slightly healthier which is a real win. This means I feel less bad putting them out in dishes and baking etc for children. I would still not go overboard though as they can't be all good :-).

I tried them in a good strong hot chocolate (my main use for marshmallows and was pleasantly surprised they were perfect - even a bit bigger than my usual choice). I thought they might have a bad reaction to the heat but they didn't sink or break up nastily. The other test I have not got around to is adding them to baking but given their response to heat was fine I have high hopes and look forward to adding the nice bright pink into some rocky road.

I will be buying these again and the only test now is how they age (yes I am one of those people who keeps them around a bit longer and sometimes that makes them horrible so the final test for me will be how they survive a few months in a tub using one or two every week or so. So far they have passed the tests with flying colours and I am now converted to Double D as an incredibly reliable find that is not as bad for you. Happy campers all around here for the marshmallows.

I'm trying very hard to snack healthier so this was a good way for me to see if I liked it, I have a sweet tooth and love marshmallows. The bag looks really cute. The information on the back is mostly easy to read but you would think that the information about excessive consumption causing a laxative effect should probably be a bit bigger.

I tried a few due to not wanting the laxative effect and found that it had a pleasant taste without being over sweet. I put the bag away for another day and had a sudden change in medication which can cause a rather undesirable effect of making it hard to go, since it had been a few days I thought let me grab some marshmallows since it is supposed to have a laxative effect and see what happens. No stomach pains but a lot of farting, sounds promising but that was about all.

I like that it is sweet without being overly sweet and that the texture still is the same. I'm not sure I would try and eat most the bag again as it didn't have a laxative effect that I was kind of hoping for and my poor kids had to put up with a lot of farting from me, at least they know it is natural and nothing to worry about but I did get a lot of laughs (boys). I can't wait for winter so I can try this in some hot chocolate.

My children, like most children, absolutely love sugar especially candy. When I saw there was a range of sugar free candy available to review, I knew our family had to give them a try. We love to use marshmallows in the top of our hot chocolates, roasted over our fire pit, or made into a gooey marshmallow slice. I will admit that I was skeptical about how a sugar free marshmallow would actually taste, and the texture of it.

The packet is predominantly white and pink in colour with the text in bold, capital letters. These marshmallows are sugar free, gluten free, and made with all natural flavours and colours. The serving size for these marshmallows is recommended one piece only, this may sound silly, but it is because there is a warning on the back of the packet, this says excessive consumption may have a laxative effect and/or cause stomach discomfort. Keeping this in mind I gave the children one each in their hot chocolate (cue the complaining) but they were okay when they found out why, I was naughty and had two ssshhh!

I will admit I was pleasantly surprised by these marshmallows, I half expected them to be hard and sink to the bottom of the cup. The marshmallows were light enough to stay at the top, and were starting to go soft, just how we like them. I tried my marshmallows without putting them in the drink as I figured that would not be a fair way to test them.
My doubts about these marshmallows were quickly put to bed, these are light and a little chewy, to me the white one which was the vanilla one, didn't have much of a flavour to it, however the pink one made up for the lack of flavour, a beautiful strawberry flavour was very distinct with that one.

Overall these are delicious, and a healthier marshmallow option, however I do worry that my children would end up not sticking to the only one marshmallow rule, and us ending up with a toilet situation. I look forward to trying more products from the Double 'D' range.

It has been brought to my attention - on more than one occasion, that I am indulging on sugar more than I probably should be. I don't do drugs, I don't smoke or drink but I do do sugar and I adore the stuff. While working for Princess Cruises I had a drawer full of chocolates and lollies that passengers would send me from around the world and it got so bad that even the captain of the ship would come down and say 'kiwi give me candy'.

During winter I am partial in indulging in a deluxe hot chocolate. I have it with cream, marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles in my extra big mug. There is nothing better then curling up by the fire while its raining outside and drinking a chocolate cup of heaven. The issue is while making this I also pop in three or four marshmallows into my mouth before they even make it to the mug. So when I got told off again by my family I knew things had to change.

To find marshmallows that are sugar free and still look like marshmallows is fantastic. Making my hot chocolate deluxe the other night I opened the packet without an issue and popped two into my mouth. First thing I noticed was the taste it is not as sweet or powdery as I am used to. It definitely is a little blander and I noted the missing sugar ingredient but it was bearable. I popped three into my mug and poured the hot water over them. I love watching marshmallows slowly melt into the chocolatey goodness. The creamy ooze slowly coming out and trickling into the mixture.

The taste didn't impact my drink at all. Well that was until I popped it into my mouth and noticed it wasn't as sweet or sticky as I am used to. It felt kind of lighter then the other brand I usually get and I found that I wasn't craving more which is actually a really good thing. I continued to drink the rest of my magic potion and finally finished the remaining two marshmallows and found, that again, I was content. Also when getting up to put the finished mug into the kitchen I didn't pop into the fridge and grab a couple more on my return to the lounge.

I have had two more hot chocolates and the taste has grown on me. The girls have also been joining me and they also commented that they could taste the difference between our usual brand and this one but both said they didn't mind it knowing that my sugar intake was better for it in the long run. I think looking into the future, that I will continue to buy this just because I know it is better for me and I do like knowing that I am eating a healthier brand of sweets.

I could not believe that these marshmallows were not the regular kind. Although I do not naturally have a sweet tooth, I do enjoy the occasional marshmallow and always pack some to put on a toasting stick over the barbecue when I go to stay with my cousins in Whangamata; they have an outdoor barbecue made from recycled bricks and various pieces of ironware, complete with grid and trivet. Our idea of heaven is to spend a summer evening sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows after a meal of fish we have caught ourselves.

So I was interested to find that these marshmallows taste and behave exactly like the conventional ones. They look and taste the same; the texture is the same; and yet they are made from natural ingredients and contain no sugar whatsoever. What a treat! We ate a couple each just to try them before exploring other ways of using them. It was hard to stop after just two because they were beyond delicious. I have found that some other products containing stevia as the main sweetener have a strange after taste, but did not notice any problems like that. They were totally mouth-watering.

Having tried the marshmallows "au naturel", we used some to top a home-made dessert. I enjoy making panna cotta because it is a sophisticated sort of cream jelly - not too sweet, and so plain that you can add basically any flavour you like. I usually add a dash of vanilla to make it a bit more interesting, but with the marshmallows I did not even bother with that. Letting the panna cotta set first meant that the marshmallows sat on top as if they were floating, and because they were a mix of pink and white, the result was really attractive. They tasted good too!

We also tried a few with strawberries and dipping chocolate. Mr 11 had brought out a punnet of strawberries and a little pottle of liquid chocolate. We alternated strawberries with marshmallows, dipping them in the chocolate in turn. This was nice too although rather messy. Personally, I was just as happy to eat the marshmallows on their own.

Hopefully, we will get to Whangamata this summer and get to try the marshmallows on the toasting sticks. I am interested to see how they will fare as the sugar on regular marshmallows is the ingredient that produces those lovely singed bits. However, I will need to buy another packet first because there are none left - we ate them all.

Incidentally, the packet warns that these sweets may have a laxative effect if too many are eaten in one go. That was not a problem for us as the packet is quite small, and there were several of us (as usual) to test them. I am not sure what would happen if one person ate the whole packet however, and because they are so moreish, that could very well happen. Luckily, I never seem to be alone when there is confectionery to be reviewed!
