Dice and Fork

Available : 2018

Dice & Fork was established in 2018 by Husband and Wife duo Kathy and Hayden Young. This bar and eatery is a passion project by the pair as their second venture into the hospitality business. The couple dipped their toes in the water with a food truck business serving up grilled cheese toasties in the night market circuit.

Their shared love of board games inspired them to dive into the deep end and launch Dice & Fork! The concept was to create a fun, relaxing and unique dining environment to suit friends, workmates socializing, date nights or family gatherings.

They teamed up with head chef Honrad Arceo to take the food to the next level. Serving up fresh food that works while playing games. Inspired by fine dining, but without the price tag, Chef Honrad aimed to create plates perfect for sharing, snacks or full meals. His menu design continues to rotate always keeping ideas fresh and new. Weather you are here for dinner, snacks, sharing plates or a selection of desserts we have got you sorted.

Dice & Fork now boasts a great board game collection paired with a flavorful dynamic food and drink menu.

We are a board game family, so when Dice and Fork opened, it naturally caught our eye and even better is that is located just down the road from where I work.

This is one of those places where it is a very good idea to book a table prior to dining, a big plus is that they are very quick to respond (each time I have sent a booking via their website and have a response very quickly each time). Each time we have been, it filled up rather quickly. So long as you buy something to eat and/or drink, you can play and board game from their selection for a stay of up to two hours, want to stay longer... then there is a minimum average spend of $25 per person. And yes, you can play while you eat, simply order what you want and then go have a look. Their selection of games has been building steadily since opening, with a great range that the very young can play (like Hungry Hippos) and more time consuming games (such as Catan).

When it comes to the food, we've ordered a range and so far the firm favourite for all of us are their fries! That being said, I've had some delicious mushrooms on soft tacos and some deep fried beans on soft tacos. My youngest is hooked on their calamari rings. The food doesn't take too long to come out to your table and so far the biggest complaint has come from Mr12 who didn't like the coating on his chicken. There's also a good range of drinks, from soft drinks to my daughters favourite, the smoothies, which have chunks of fruit in them. Following the game theme, you can buy shots, which are game themed by their name, but if you are happy to take a gamble you can roll their twenty sided dice to get a shot at random (something I haven't tried yet, but will get around to).

Dice and Fork has been a hit for the kids, and with a bus stop practically on its doorstep, this is one we'll happily go to again.
