Peppa Pig has long been a favourite in our house. The bright colours and simple but meaningful stories keep everyone happy when having a little screen time. We were so excited to review this copy of Peppa Pig The Carnival, and to see what new adventures Peppa and her friends would get up to.

When we received the DVD I was really pleased to see a few things. Firstly, the DVD contains 10 episodes, totalling 50 minutes in length. This is about the perfect length for us as a wind-down activity, without getting stuck in front of the TV for hours without realising. Secondly, there was a variety of episodes, all of which sounded interesting and containing all of our favourite characters (including Mr Bull, Miss Rabbit and Mr Potato).

The DVD itself has three options for play. The first is to play them all in one go- perfect to leave on if you want to watch the whole lot in one go without any need for interference. The second is to choose a single episode to watch. This is perfect if you want to watch one or a couple of episodes only, and means you can limit the amount of time you are watching the DVD for. The final option is called 'Peppa's shuffle'. This plays all of the episodes but shuffles them up each time (except for Peppa's Carnival, which always plays first each time). This means that there is a different viewing experience each time you watch it, and certainly saves any potential boredom from both kids and adults.

The episodes are well thought out. The title episode is a great start, and it is really good to see Miss Rabbit getting some recognition for all of the work she seems to do! We also really enjoyed the 'Tiny Land' episode, giving mentions to lots of previous episodes, and the functioning of the town. We found the mix of characters, themes and adventures really balanced, and my daughter enjoyed each of the episodes. It was lovely to see a real mix of characters, of all shapes, sizes and colours getting on together. In particular, the concepts of sharing, kindness, helping others, responsibility and selflessness come through really strongly, whilst still retaining the fun and enjoyment for the whole family.

Overall, this is a great DVD for any Peppa Pig fan. Suitable for the whole family, and a really nice way of introducing key social concepts to children in a safe and fun environment. What a great stocking filler for any lucky Peppa fan this Christmas and beyond- you simply cannot go wrong!
