Having two girls and then a boy, cars have not always been on the radar in this house. Slowly but surely though, they are taking over and since turning 5, it appears my sons obsession with vehicles, and cars in particular has become full blown. He was so excited to see something in the review box just for him, and also something that he had never seen or had before. Master 5 grabbed the Maisto egg and proceeded to attempt to open it - which although seemed simple, really was not. The plastic wrapping was very difficult to remove, and I had to resort to a knife to slit it and get it off. Once that was removed, with bouncing child all around me, he grabbed it and rushed over to the table to open up the egg.

As this was the first one of these we had ever had, I did not really know what to expect - apart from that there was a car inside that was one of 12 different possible ones. Master 5 on the other hand just wanted to know how quickly he could get into it!! Opening it up we found one of my favourite cars - a Mini Cooper in British racing green - perfect for a car mad boy, and a car that we do not have anything like in our current collection!

I have to admit that for the price, there is not really much to these Maistro eggs - put simply, a die cast car, in an egg. While my son loves the Mini - he went looking for the "sheet of the others" so he could figure out what was in the series. He was disappointed that there was not one, nor that any of the doors opened, or the car actually did anything. The car itself is well made and is quality, but already it is "just one of the collection" and not a prized or favourite.

All in all these are well, made, and meet the car crazy kid and unwrapping/unboxing craze kids like to do well. Remember to have scissors on hand, as that plastic outer wrapping is hard to remove!!
These do have the bonus of being already wrapped, so to add to a Christmas or birthday present they would be good!

Ever since they have been young my three children have had a passion for playing with toy vehicles, in particular cars. My boys room floor is often covered in a large assortment of Hot Wheels, Maisto, or Matchbox cars. We usually pick up a car each grocery trip and they provide hours of entertainment for my children aged 6, 4, and 2. When I saw that KIWIreviews had the Maisto Surprise Eggs: Fresh Metal series available to request, I knew instantly if I received one it would put a smile on the children's faces.

After bringing the box from KIWIreviews inside we quickly surveyed the contents. My youngest immediately spied the Maisto Egg and proceeded to try and unwrap it, unfortunately, the plastic wrapping around the egg proved too tricky for him to open, I even needed to use scissors to make a wee snip so he could tear it off. Once the plastic was off he was straight into opening the golden egg. To say my son was over the moon when he saw a Hummer in his hand would be an understatement. In my opinion the car is very well made and looks like a realistic version of a Hummer. The quality is good and I believe it will withstand several hours of play.

I recommend these to all people who have little people in their lives, playing cars is a fantastic way to stimulate young minds without being glued to a screen. I like the surprise factor as you never know which car you will receive, which just adds to the excitement. My sons and I are looking forward to trying to collect the other 11 vehicles in this series. These would be perfect for rewards (or bribery hehe) and ideal as gifts, or stocking stuffers at Christmas time.

My 6 year old is car mad, I would have to say he probably has about 500 different cars from brands such as maisto. hot wheels, and matchbox and he would still claim he does not have enough so for him receiving a car is a real treat. I loved this idea of having the car inside a surprise egg sort of like a kinder surprise without the rubbish toy and the chocolate that causes hours of hyperactivity lol. My son loves watching you tube videos of other kids opening surprise eggs so this sort of thing is right up his alley!

As soon as we opened the package and he saw the maisto egg inside he was ready to start ripping into it to find out what car would be inside. The plastic over wrapping on the plastic egg is quite difficult for children to get off so I had to assist him with this to get the plastic part way peeled off before he could continue but once that was done he was away and was very happy to open the plastic egg and find his car inside. He wanted to go out and get more and had a good look at the packet information to see what other cars you could collect pointing out the ones he hoped to get next time we bought one of these.

The next time came around very quick as he spotted them when we were out and the puppy dog face got me sucked in. I think these are definitely something we would buy as those small treats for good behaviour as they are right up our alley and thinking ahead I am thinking these would be great as a stocking stuffer at christmas time. My boy loved them so that was a hot new toy in our house.

When I saw these as a review product it seemed right up my 8 year old boys alley. He loves cars infact he collects all the hot wheel cars and can tell which ones he has and doesnt have when in the shops. A easter surprise egg would be good for him, something different and another set to start to collect. When I gave him the egg he saw the car on the front and really wanted to get into the egg, it took him ages to try and open the warp off the egg, I fact he even used little scissors and it still took ages. I even had a hard time to open it which is a little disappointing as if this was a treat I happen to hand to him in the car he wouldn't be able to get into it.

Once into it, I could see the little disappointment on his face even though he says "this is cool" on the video I could see pass it all. He loved that it was a neat little car, it zoomed well on the wooden floors and he could use the egg for other things or to store the car in. He used the egg to hide other things in and the car ended up on the shelf with the others.

I did feel for the price of this easter egg doesnt really reflect what you actually get. I can buy hotwheel cars cheaper to be honest. If this egg came with a car and a little booklet inside with information about the car and a little tick sheet to tick off the 12 in the set that would be awesome I would be happy with that. I asked my son after he finished playing if he would of liked information on the car and a tick sheet his ees lit up and said yes then I can watch my collection of cars AND know what is so special about that car. Of course that wouldn't appeal to everyone but those that really love their cars and information it would be awesome for them.

So for the price of this toy I wouldn't buy it again even though my son loves cars. I would however if there was more to it. The novelty of the egg bit wore off but the car was played for for ages, he did however ask dad (before I mentioned a information sheet" what sort of car it was hence I mentioned the sheet. So as much as its a great gesture and would work well for a lot of people its not something we will get.

As soon as my son noticed the picture of a fast car on the egg label he was ecstatic and couldn't wait to get that egg open and see what lay inside. This is a very simple idea but it appeals to children so well with the biggest trend of surprise style toys like Hatchimals, [link^7897^Zuru smashers^link] and blind bags to name but a few. Also being cars, I can see these being very popular amongst boys. It was very easy to open by just peeling off the label and squeezing the egg so it popped free in the middle.

Inside the egg was a miniature toy car of an official licensed 3 inch blue 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS which my son welcomed into his already vast car collection. The detailing on the car isn't the greatest only really outlining the main parts but will suffice for any young children and I doubt that they would even really notice it lacking. I have mentioned this before on similar toys and believe it suits this toy also that these are the perfect type of toys for birthday's and Christmas (ideal for stocking's).

Overall I think these are great toys but the downside to such toys is if you buy multiple ones there's nothing more disappointing to getting the same toy in numerous egg's and being that there are only twelve cars in the set it won't take long before doubling up. I can understand the excitement of not knowing what you're going to get but I think I'll stick to the products I can see for my peace of mind.

I was so excited for my little guy (age 2) that we were lucky enough to review this product. As a parent I am all over the idea of "treats" and will use them for various different reasons ranging from 'they have earned it' to 'because I can'. However I have always struggled with the notion that these are often end up being of chocolate or lolly variety; especially when buying on the go from shops while out and about. For this reason alone I utterly love this product! It's like a kinder egg minus the chocolate which I love...

Yes this product is a little more expensive than a kinder egg; but the plastic egg contains a toy car of great quality that will last a child years and provide many hours of entertainment. Being an early childhood teacher; I immediately started to recognise the qualities in his learning with this toy... The concentration! The fine motor skills he was using and strengthening. The sharing with his sister (as all siblings must of course haha). The reenactment of real life experiences into his play as he pushed the car along and made the noises. The utter and pure enjoyment!!

I helped my son open this by giving the plastic wrap around the middle of the egg a little snip with the scissors as I could tell that it wasn't going to be easy enough to open (more to do with my son's age and stage, not at all a negative of the product). As my son quickly proved once he had opened this product, the packaging (the car was inside a plastic bag which was inside the plastic egg shape) was as of much great value as the car itself. He spent a long time putting the car back inside the bag then back inside the egg before opening it again and then repeating the process all over again. You can see a small video of him exploring this toy over on KIWIreview's facebook page if you want too ^:)

For an 'on the go' little boy; this toy certainly had him sitting still and enjoying his 'treat'. This product is one that I will buy again for him without any hesitation at all. I have also found myself thinking ahead to future family birthdays etc and how many of these I need to buy. Without a doubt, a product that I recommend to all!
