Having two daughters that are fans of the Minecraft franchise I already knew this was going to be something they would enjoy and I was not wrong. This book sits in well with the Minecraft world as it is very light-hearted and comedic which appeals to a young audience. The layout is great as a diary form and allows children to connect with it easily. There are also slight indications of good life lessons such as not to judge a book by its cover as it dives into a character you would typically believe in being a generic villain and shows them in a way that there is more than meets the eye.

This book is jammed packed full of humour and illustrations from what you would normally expect from Minecraft and shows why the ever-expanding world of Minecraft is so popular for all ages.My eldest daughter who is twelve and is an avid Minecraft game player loved the book and now wants to continue reading the rest of the series. She said she would read the book again but only if she was bored or had no other books to read. She finished the book in one sitting but the youngest daughter is reading it through a few pages at a time. Because of the layout of it been written as a diary, it is good for younger readers who are getting into stories with a chapter like structure.

I recommend this book to any young Minecraft fans who enjoy reading and are looking for a book that doesn't take too long to read.

My 7 and 9 year old daughters are both fascinated with the computer game Minecraft so I thought this book would be perfect for them. When my 9 year old daughter first saw the book she exclaimed that it was a 'boys book' but after informing her that there was no such thing as 'boys books' and 'girls books', she sat down and read the back cover. The book cover is very attractive with a pixelated design and even with my limited knowledge, I instantly associated it with the game Minecraft.

When I turned to look at my daughter, her head was buried in the book and she would let out an occasional giggle. It took her exactly one hour to read the book and when she finished it she said it was very funny. She liked the toilet humour in the book and found it a very easy book to read, especially as the font is large with a nice amount of spacing between sentences. There are words on every page that are larger and in a bolder font that helps to make the pages more interesting, along with a pixelated edging on each page. There were pixelated images throughout the book and although my daughter quite liked them, they did look a bit boring to me as they were black, white and grey and a bit of colour would have been great!

My 7 year old daughter has started the book and is taking a little longer to read it. The Creeper is called Jasper and he has a lisp so he writes the words as if he is hissing. 'Admit' becomes 'admith' which is a little confusing for her (it didn't bother my eldest).

Overall, if you want to get your kids off the tablet and reading, this is a great book to give them! My eldest is already looking forward to reading Book 2!
