Sudoku puzzles have always been a bit of a selfish "ignore everyone else in the room" type of thing, but the idea of making a board game for friends to join in is brilliant. I found the Sudoku board game very easy to understand - perfect for teaching newcomers the ropes. The puzzle cards supplied tend to be very easy, whereas the newspaper or book ones provide a bit more of a challenge. (I don't recommend a Diabolical though...) The basic idea is that you try to fill in the higher numbers first, as the points are worked out on a face value basis. If you use a puzzle that's too easy, the 9's will go immediately, whereas a harder sudoku will leave a more even mix of numbers at the end. There are only two things that could be done to improve the game: 1. Catagorised cards (easy, medium, hard), rather than all apparently easy; and 2. An electronic or clockwork timer. (You spend so much time watching the sand trickle down that you forget to put a number in...) Overall a very fun and interactive game. Well done. :) |
