Tucker   Review #838 - Dated: 19th of August, 2005
  Author: Tucker

I have always enjoy Jimmy Neutron... his amazing brain comes up with some 'wierd science' ways of reaching any goal, a true master of lateral thinking and improvisational super-science... and his father is a total crack-up to boot. Grin Icon

With two extra-long episodes making up the title story, plus the 6 bonus episodes of more standard length, this DVD gives you a hefty dose of Neutronized humour. My personal fave episode would have to be "The Retroville 9" where Jimmy enhances the bats and gloves of his losing baseball team, making them unbeatable... until moral issues come into play at the big play-off. Honesty is always the best policy... and timing is vital. Besides which, it doesn't seem to matter what his Dad does, Mr Neutron's head always seems to be the final destination of the balls' trajectory.

My Son, the Hamster harkens back to cult classic movie "The Fly", but without the scary, yukky aspects, and with a lot of humour thrown in, making it really funny too. See Jimmy Run explores what happens when Jimmy tries to stop being the stumbling block to the Track Team's relay race victory, with some interesting results. Krunch Time explores childhood's addiction to sweet sweet candy, when Jimmy decides to fabricate the ultimate candy treat. Safety First takes an unusual look at how NOT to deal with being bullied, when Jimmy's nanobot defences start attacking anyone who comes near him, just in case... Grumpy Young Men highlights that age and maturity are not always the same thing, when Jimmy, Carl and Sheen use a Metabolic Accelerator to artifically age themselves so they can purchase an age-restricted violent video game, with, as usual, some unforeseen results.

Overall, if you or your kids like Jimmy's adventures, you should get this for your library. With a running time of almost 2 hours, it's a wonderful way to pass some of a rainy day stuck indoors with tired or bored little ones. With minimal objectionable scenes (the occasional boot-on-a-stick kind of gag really) this has to be seen as quality family entertainment. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch Mr Neutron catching baseballs again... -lol-
