To be honest I have not really enjoyed the last couple of the series and was very reluctant to request this. Its funny the day before this became available to review both girls asked if there was a new one - so with a heavy heart I requested it.

I was not expecting a lot from the book but was a little excited to see it was going to be about chocolate which is one of my favourite subjects. Both girls are unwell at the moment so I got us all comfortable under the blankies yesterday afternoon and started to read. Because the last book took so long to read I was assuming the same thing would happen with this. I figured both girls would fall asleep because they were bored but instead they were captivated right from the beginning.

As always love the font and the zany pictures. The footnotes are fantastic and explain what various words actually mean. There is a break down on the down of The Republic of Ecuador which even I found interesting. Because this was a crime story they have little break downs of what is happened so far and what crimes have been committed, which helps them remember and pin point who the bad mouse is.

It was fairly obvious who the bad mouse was but both girls enjoyed guessing who it could be dun dun dunnnnn. It is fantastic for children who are just learning to read, and usually my daughter would attempt to read the coloured writing but because she is so unwell I read the whole thing. We managed to read the book in two sittings and they both loved it.

I loved that it was focused around chocolate and told you the background of how chocolate is made. It is organic and I learnt how to fix problems using gods earth instead of using pesticides. It really is a very informative little book. I also love how it sticks to top with rodent terminology - it really is cleverly done, instead of running they 'scampered' or when its something amazing they would say 'crispy cheese chunks' - love it.

I would happily read this one again. It was gripping and left you wanting to read more. At the end of the book shows other titles from the series and upcoming books and looks like we will definitly be reading the next couple - fairies and Atlantis.

My daughter can't get enough of the books in this series as well as the original Geronimo Stilton series. The range of books seems to get bigger and bigger and we have a bit of a collection now. She loves the fact that the books are so easy to read being short novels. She will plow through one of these books in half an hour so they are a book she will read more than once, so definitely great for a rainy day read a thon.

This book followed the thea sisters at a chocolate/cacoa plantation solving the mystery of who was plotting to cause trouble at the factory and steal away the chance of winning the elite golden trophy for best chocolate. There were lots of things going on to try and sabotage the factory from winning the elite trophy and the Thea sisters were eager to get to the bottom of who was behind the trouble.

Of course in true stilton style the detective sisters made short of uncovering the mystery and restoring order which is what is so nice about these books they always have a sweet ending which makes them a nice light read. But what is even better about these books is they always provide you with certain information or new learning in regards to a topic covered in the book in this case Southern America and Cacao or chocolate.

We learnt what it meant to grow organically, what cacao was and also where brazil is and a bit about the country. It was quite cool to have a book with a focus on environmentally sound growing practices and organic methods of growing I think it is cool to expose young children to things like this to get them thinking of ways to make less of an impact on the environment. You see it more and more with the children these days learning these things at school so was nice to have a fiction book covering the topic also
