The illustrations of the crocs on the cover are quite humorous and entice the reader into the book. They are rather goofy and cute at the same time and really appealed to my four year old son and my 2 year old daughter.

The hidden numbers on each page added an extra element to the story and our son took great pride in finding each one as we went to a new page.

As you move through the book, you follow a journey with the crocs from pirates to a rock band to yoga. Each experience has witty illusrations and plenty for children to look at while listening to the story. Our four year old enjoyed looking at the illustrations on each page and had plenty to comment about in each case. He thought it was very funny that all the crocs were in their PJs and off to bed at the end of the book. It is a good way to make a suggestion to our children that it is bedtime at the end of the book!

There are a lot of these counting type of books out now and from an adults perspective, they can get a bit tedious. From a child's point of view, however they still seem to love them regardless of how many different ones we read. Repetition is how they learn and as adults we just have to accept that and enjoy the ride. It was nice that this book used the music and structure for 10 Green Bottles. This adds a bit of variety as it isn't one that I have seen used too often.

I had a bit of fun getting some of the words working with the song. I have read it a number of times to the children now and I still find that my timing isn't right. I guess practice will make perfect for me too. If the music was at the back I could figure out the timing a little better with the piano to help. My husband is much more musical than me and seemed to have have much more luck with the timing and he got the lilt required to fit the words and music together.

Reading this book you can't help but sing it. Its so easy to get into tune and just belt it out. Its catchy so after reading it for the 3rd time in a row your little one will also be trying to sing it as well.

The pictures are cute and after lots of discussion about what each of the crocodiles is doing and finding them all on the page you are then allowed to turn to the next one and start recounting and finding them all over again. Each page has its own theme and I definitely love "five smiley crocs building a cubby house, five smiley crocs building a cubby house, and if one smiley croc is scared of a little mouse, there'll be four smiley crocs building a cubby house." The picture is of a little mouse poking its tongue out and has my daughter is absolute hysterics.

The crocodiles are definitely not that bright which makes it funnier because some of them are so silly and my 2 year old daughter is telling them off for what they have done wrong. Like one of the crocodiles is sitting on a branch and sawing it so if/when the branch finally breaks the poor crocodile is going to be so sore.

Such a cute book for all children. Helps in counting and finding things. Also, who doesn't love a book that you can sing along to???
