Jay-Jay and Dom have been married since 2006. They always imagined that they'd get married, have children, grow old. A complication in surgery for a tumour on his aorta left them unable to conceive a child naturally. In the meantime, they suddenly became guardians of Jay-Jay's five-year-old nephew. But their hopes of having a child of their own lay in IVF.

After five heart breaking rounds of treatment, they have finally decided that enough is enough. Written with a mix of brutal honesty and their trademark humour, this book follows their quest to conceive a child, charting the highs and lows of life lived in the shadow of infertility.

I have followed Jay Jay in her Career right from the beginning so was excited to read her first book and was not disappointed. I enjoyed reading it so much I found it hard to put down and as I got more caught up in the emotional journey of Jay Jay and Dom going through IVF I almost forgot that I already knew the outcome and as I read more I nearly forgot this wasn't going to be one of those books that had the happy ending that you find with most books.

Jay Jay writes openly and honestly about the experience and often you find yourself close to tears as you realize how much this couple badly want things to be successful and have their heart broken at each attempt they try. This would also be a good book for someone who was considering going through with IVF treatment as it does give a good insight on what it is all about, all thought Jay Jay and Dom weren't able to get pregnant it is not written to put people off and just talks about how it was for them both.

Its sad that the outcome wasn't that of a healthy baby for Jay Jay and Dom but I have to commend Jay Jay for sharing such a deep personal event in her life with others. I found the book really well written and really gave you an insight of what was going on through the stages of the IVF. If anyone is a fan of Jay Jay and Dom and want to know more about their private life journey this will give a great insight to what they went through. I would definitely recommend it to others who enjoy them both.

A friend of mine recommended this book to me when it came out and I'm so glad they did it was such an interesting read I had trouble putting it down. I have also reread it as well, it's such a honest truthful book about the ups and downs and heartbreak of trying to conceive and facing infertility.

Most of us know Jay-Jay and Dom from the Edge radio station, they have shared their life on the air including a number of their IVF attempts. They have also appeared on the Sunday tv shows when they allowed cameras to be there at every step of their IVF. In this book Jay-Jay brings everything together and tells the full story of her trying to conceive journey.

The book is written with such brutal honesty your heart breaks at time as you can feel the emotions that the two of them went through at each failed attempt. The book also has Dom's view threaded throughout as he writes the journey in his words as well. Dom's chapters are a bit lighter as he includes a lot of his trademark humour in them but you can still see the raw emotion and feel the hurt as well.

I love the fact Jay-Jay has taken a subject that is often not talked about and brought it into the light. She has shared something that is deeply personal to her with the world. She has also managed to do so in an emotional, humour filled, informative way.
