I was very excited after getting bad news and then my Thermometer not wanting to work anymore to be told I can review this thermometer. I have been looking at the non contact ones for ages. Its a lot smaller and lighter than I thought I would be which makes it PREFECT to pack in my bag and take anywhere with me if I need to. I love the fact it comes with its own little bag which is prefect size once again and I have the little booklet it came with in the bag to refer back to if needed.

I think its great that its non contact which makes this hygienic having kids you need something you can move from child to child without having to wash first as this can take ages. My last one is a ear one and you get wax on it every so often so its a pain to clean really, plus I feel better not having to put something in my kids ears. I also like that I can go from child to child without having to wait, you click it on one child then move tot he next and push the button again instant. I like the LCD screen on it, its nice and big and if I happen to take a temperature in the dark it lights up without me having to turn the bedroom light on to take the temperature in the first place. Its great when kids are sleeping no disturbing them.

It has two mods you can check the body temp or the room temp but I have used it for drinks etc too. Its been giving me some good readings and making me think about how cold my kids bedrooms really are at night as it comes up saying LO so tells me their rooms are under 15degrees. So will need to sort this for next winter, in saying that when I do their temps they are warm so their pjs and blankets might be good enough.

If your child is sick you it saves the temperatures up to 32 of them and you can go back to see if they are going up or coming down with their temps making sure you get them seem or pamol. It seems to be great for those moving children that hate to sit still like a 6 month old, I used this at work (i work with under 2's) and it was great as if I couldn't get behind the ear the temple area was easy to get to, all you have to do is give a cuddle point and shoot, its very quick and they wouldn't even know you just took their temp.

The beeping isnt a loud annoying noise its just loud enough to hear it when its done its job you can turn the noise off but when you turn it back on you need to turn the noise faction off again but I like the beeps so I don't have to guess when its finished. once I put it into its bag after a minute it will beep again telling me its turned off.

The price is high but if you can afford one I would get one, for young children its prefect and checking the temp of their food is great too, saves you time sitting there testing it every 2 seconds. Its well worth it

I was so happy to be chosen as a reviewer for this thermometer. A thermometer is something we regularly need in our house with an 18 month old but a good one has always been out of reach budget wise. We have been using a traditional under the tongue thermometer which we have had to share between our children which isn't very hygienic and is sometimes confusing to read the results too which I doubt are very accurate.

With the old style thermometer I had to sit and hold my son with it in his mouth for 2 minutes and he hated it so it was a real struggle. With this Oricom Non Contact Thermometer, I don't even need to disturb his play or even sleep to take a reading as I just hold it to his temple or behind his ear press the button and I get a reading almost instantly. It really is a great quick no fuss way to take a temperature and causes no upset or discomfort to the child.

The other great thing is I can move from one person to the next to take a reading and there is no hygiene issues because it never touches the skin. This week we have had my son teething and my daughter with a nasty cold so with the non contact I have been able to take both their temps without any germ contamination.

It is great how in the instructions you get a run down on all the normal temperatures for the various ages as although I should know I always forget so it is so handy to have it all written down in front of me. The thermometer comes with a great little bag for storage so I have popped the instructions inside the bag with the thermometer for quick reference which will also be great when my son is at home with Dad or staying with grandparents who may not know what the normal temperature range is.

This is so easy to use, there are two modes: one to check body temperature, and one to check room temperature. You can easily switch between the two modes by just pressing the mode button. You can also easily save temperatures so you can refer back to see if there has been any change in temperature after pamol has been given which I thought was a great idea and saves any confusion in recording it wrongly.

I liked the room temperature function a lot too. My son sleeps in a sleeping bag every night and also has an econo heat panel in his room, so sometimes he wakes up too hot and sweaty if his room temperature gets too high. This week I have been able to test the room temperature and only put the heater on if it gets below 18 degrees in his room. I don't even need to disturb his sleep when taking a room temperature as I can simply point the thermometer in the doorway press the button and get a reading in seconds.

I can honestly say this is a great thermometer and I think if you can afford it definitely spend the extra and get this one. The non contact certainly makes a big difference in terms of keeping the children happy and being unwell is often traumatic enough without having to stick probes in ears or thermometers under tongues. A big A+ from us, so thanks BabyFirst and KIWIreviews :)
