My granddaughter has not long ago turned one, and we have slowly been introducing a cup to her for the past few weeks. I say slowly, because we have yet to find the right cup for her. So many has changed since I had children, and there are so many different options on the market these days, it is kind of hard to know where to start.

Do I want non spill? one handle? two handles? maybe we need to look at non tip rather than non spill. do we need a green lid, a red lid, or a purple lid? $3, $6, $12, $15? Why must there be so many options? The first cup we purchased, was a $12 non spill cup. Designed specifically for transitioning from bottle to cup. It was supposed to be easier for baby because it had a flat teat with 3 holes at the tip, similar to a bottle teat, so baby would know how to get the water out right. Wrong? she just got frustrated because she couldn't get a drink :-( We tried many times unsuccessfully. She liked the idea of it, but not the fact she couldn't get a drink.

So after one particular grumpy day where she just got decidedly annoyed at her 'expensive' cup, we went and bought a good ole fashioned dinkee cup. The best thing about these is they are cheap. They're also easy to use and clean lol Sure, the minute they are tipped up the water flows out super quickly, and baby often splutters because she isnt expecting it, and when first learning to use a cup they spill a lot of water down their neck and over themselves (no spill is definitely a bonus but oh well) lol but they get it eventually.

So if you need an easy to use, non expensive cup, then this is all you need. Sure, your child will get wet, your floor will get wet, you'll probably get splashed too, BUT, the child will get a drink, and that is all that really matters!

As a daycare teacher I have worked in many centres where we have a supply of Dinkee cups for the children to use throughout the day. we also have several of these at home for my daughter as these were the only cups I could get her to drink from when we were transitioning her from a bottle to a cup, I never had to waste a fortune on trying out lots of fancy cups which were all meant to be designed for encouraging easy drinking for babies and toddlers as I had seen many parents fall into this trap, with there children all successfully being able to drink from a daycare when they reached daycare, so I opted to use the Dinkee as my first go to sippee cup.

Although the cup isn't the greatest for spills, as soon as a child shakes or tips them water flows out quite fast, it seems to be a great little cup for those starting to drink from a cup with 2 easy to hold handles, one on each side of the cup it is easy for little hands to grip and to tip up as they drink, they are light weight unlike many choices on the market which are already weigh a tonne to stay with before you even put any water into them.

The best thing about the Dinkee cup is that once your child has mastered drinking from the sippee, you can easily remove the lid so that they can learn how to drink from a normal cup without a lid on, I also found at my daycare that some children still weren't wanting to drink from the sippee lid, however these Dinkee cups have another lid which can fit any of there cups which has a straw rather than a sippee like lid and this has suited these children well. in aiding them to drink water.

With the price of these cups being only $2.49 I definitely recommend trying this cup before forking out a pile of money on other cups. For the price the plastic seems quite durable and lasts well, and I've never had a problem with them cracking or with the lids no longer fitting on properly, they are dishwasher safe to which is an added bonus and they come in a large range of colours such as pink, purple, green, blue, red and yellow.

I bought one of these cups when I was trying to transition my daughter to drinking from a 'big girl' cup. We tried it a few times but found that my daughter would leave it on its side when she'd had her fill and the water would leak onto the floor which wasn't ideal so we put it away and bought a non spill cup.

A few months later we decided to try it again as we had taught our daughter to leave the cup upright so no spillages. It worked great. It has a very good flow for toddlers and with the handles on the sides it makes for a great cup to teach my daughter how to drink out of a cup with no lid.

The price for this cup is good, much cheaper than alternatives and not too expensive to worry about accidentally leaving it somewhere, yet it isn't too cheap to be concerned about it's quality.

If you are looking for a cup for your toddler to learn how to drink out of before giving them a topless cup then this is perfect but if you are looking for something to transition from a bottle then you might want to investigate non spill cups (unless you want to monitor where your child leaves the cup).

It has been a hard run getting my son to start drinking out of a cup rather than a bottle and we have tried a variety of different sippee cups. I went through a few different quite expensive non spill cups and he just wouldn't drink out of them because he found it so frustrating compared to a bottle. On a whim I bought one of these cups when I was doing my supermarket shopping.

I could hardly believe it when I gave him the cup and he actually drunk out of it without any fuss, we used it just for water at first and now we use it for milk too instead of a bottle. It works well for him as it has the handles on the side for him to be able to get a good grip and hold on to it and the milk comes out in a free flow so he doesn't have to suck overly hard for it to come out which avoids any unneccessary frustration.

The only down side is that it is not non spill so if he leaves it lying around it does leak out on to the carpet but he seems to like this a lot more than he has liked any non spill cups. At only 2.50 each we have bought a few of them as I think they are quite handy to have when he has friends over for a play so they can all have their own cup if they haven't brought one with them. I can't put one of these in our bag when we go out to playgroups as it would leak so we have had to buy a drink bottle for that.
