Niall Johnson's comedy Keeping Mum concerns the family of a vicar who are beset by a variety of problems. Reverend Walter Goodfellow (Rowan Atkinson) is a well-meaning but hapless religious figure in his town.

His son, Petey, is a wimp, forever terrorized at school. His daughter, Holly, enjoys the company of a variety of different boyfriends. Wife Gloria (Kristin Scott Thomas) has had enough of her husband and is considering leaving him for a golf teacher (Patrick Swayze).

The family starts to come back together after hiring housekeeper Grace (Maggie Smith), a woman who knows a thing or two about keeping secrets.

The Goodfellow's are on the verge of falling apart. Walter, the town reverend, is absent and not really paying attention to anything at home, nor does he have much of a flock. His wife is feeling neglected and considering running away with her golf instructor. Their daughter Holly likes sex and often changes boyfriends, so fast that no one can keep up. Petey is the picked upon child at school.

One day Grace turns up to be their housekeeper and she really shakes things up, mostly for the better, but what is her secret and what is with her trunk? Maggie Smith does a fantastic job as Grace, the mysterious housekeeper with a secret, I really do like Maggie Smith. Rowan Atkinson does a fas job as well, everyone does, it's perfect casting.

This is a really enjoyable film, one that is good for all ages up from teens, lol. My grandparents are the ones who told me about this movie, they hired it due to Maggie Smith. I of course obeyed my elders, rented it, and loved it.
