Preparing and serving food several times a day means that kitchen bench tops can become messy rather quickly. A stone bench top is porous and can absorb any liquids which come into contact with it. Having built a new house and having gorgeous composite granite white and black bench tops we were hoping for not only great looking modern benches in our dream kitchen but easy clean and low maintenance. Ajax Spray n' Wipe Stone Safe was their recommended cleaning product which of course we didn't hesitate to buy immediately. Now I hate cleaning at the best of time so my hope was a quick and easy clean, with little effort and a "like new" look every time, and unfortunately this hasn't been the case. Not only does it really require a lengthy 5-step process; remove excess dirt, spray, wipe with damp cloth and wipe with dry cloth, which I rarely have time to do, but even after my best attempts the black bench tops especially are left streaky from where you have wiped. The white is less evident and does appear to have a better overall finish, however I am still disappointed in the end result. Perhaps on other colour stone tops or marble type materials perhaps this will be a good solution, unfortunately for me this is not a product I enjoyed and found myself frustrated at the final finish. We tried many different methods of application and the best result, while still not perfect, was using microfiber cloths. |

Having a white stone bench top in our house has its ups and downs, it's great for being able to cut straight on to but for other things it's not always so good for example cleaning certain coloured (pink and red) felt tips off and also for getting coloured gel dyes off. I must admit when I first moved into our house I had no idea that I would need to use a special type of surface cleaner for my kitchen bench due to it being stone, but then a family friend who makes stone benches told me about this one day when I needed advice from them in regards to getting the red and pink stains off the bench. Searching high and low at the supermarket for something suitable I finally came across the Ajax Spray n' Wipe Stone Safe. Ajax was a brand I had used before in my kitchens so I knew I could trust it, so into the trolley it went. When I arrived home I decided to follow the instructions (not something that I always do) and tested a small patch of my kitchen bench with this product, leaving it on for 10 minutes with no horrible discoloring or noticeable issues I decided it was safe to use. The spray bottle is easy to use featuring a spray nozzle and a good sized trigger to pull, it doesn't take long to spray my whole kitchen bench down. This product has a lovely fresh smell to it and was easy to wipe off the bench top with a damp cloth. The residue wiped off easily and didn't leave any streaks or greasy trails on the bench, something I find that some cleaners often leave. I was pleased to find that this product managed to clean the pink and red felt tip pens off my bench though I did have to leave the spray sitting on this for a little bit longer. A great product that is so simple and safe to use, a must for anyone with a stone bench top, the spray lasts and lasts and best of all it is see through which means you can quickly take a peek to see how much product you have left before setting off to do your grocery shopping. |

I have recently renovated my kitchen and I spent extra to get a stone top for my bench...then came the maintenance of my brand new stone bench top. I was at the supermarket hoping to find something suitable because I was told I had to be careful what I used on it....so I was very relieved when I spotted Ajax stone safe!! With the added benefit of baking soda I know my bench top is really getting a good clean. The spray nozzle gives a perfect coverage over the bench and the pleasant fragrance smells fresh and clean. It is super easy to wipe straight off and it really does cut through any grease or grime that is on the bench top. The spray doesn't leave a greasy feel to the bench top either, it doesn't leave it looking streaky! and I can use the bench top straight after I have wiped it clean without feeling as though I am getting the spray all the food I put down on the bench. I love how the bottle is see through so I know how much liquid there is left before I need to restock...even though I use it every day on the bench tops and sometimes 2 or 3 times if I am cooking or baking and need to clean up my mess etc and 1 bottles lasts forever!! because I don't need to use that much it is very economical. The bottle is easy to hold onto the spray lever is super comfy and easy to squeeze! I like that the spray nozzle can be turned to the OFF position so when it is not being used or left unattended little fingers can't make the spray come out... especially good for me as I can't the spray bottle under the sink where little hands can easily open the drawer! Not that I have little fingers living in my household but still when nieces and nephews stay I can rest assured it is still okay in the off position. |
