Tucker   Review #416 - Dated: 4th of September, 2004

OK, so I admit it, I am a gadget junkie. I really enjoy playing with cool new gizmos and putting them through their paces, especially if there isn't a writhing mass of cables to deal with, which means that bluetooth is just the sort of 'new toy' I like most.

I have a bluetooth-enabled PDA, cellphone and laptop, so to just plug this TINY device into the USB hub mounted on my wall and instantly be able to connect them all was just too dinky to refuse... I had to try it. Thanks to the generosity of Sean at Belkin we got to give this a whirl. :)

Setup was so easy! I opened the box and found a driver CD, a manual, and a bubble-wrapped device that looked more like an ultra-slim USB pendrive. Quite frankly, I was dubious this thing could do all it was hyped to do. But... I plugged it into the hub, installed the driver, and began the tedious task of configuring all the various applications to utilise BT instead of the docking cradles I was using.

After wandering around the software mostly lost, being not up to full speed on BT, I eventually decided to leave it all on defaults and just see what happened. Then on to the remote devices. They took longer to configure, but I got there in the end. After a total of about half an hour, I tested the PDA... bleep... blurple blurple blurple... BLEEP! It was done! All files sync'd in about a third of the time it normally took through the docking cradle! Stunning!

Laptop, sync... lock... share... simple! Cellphone, sunc, lock, dial, online! (Had to cut that test short due to high call-costs, but at least it worked.)

Overall, if you want wireless PC connectivity, this is the device for you. Belkin have designed a real winner, full of function, stylish form. What more could a self-respecting 'leet geek want?
