Abso-smurfing-ly brilliant... that's the best way to describe this I think. I was so impressed! The tartness of the lime was evident, but it was well balanced by the zing of garlic and the soft roundedness of the saffron. A hint of vinegar to add an extra dimension of flavour, and you have something remarkable. The obvious first step with this was to drizzle it over a garden salad, and it was brilliant at that... but taking the idea from another reviewer whose accidental discovery with the "[link^3111^Just A Dressing^link]" turned out so well, I stirred some of this through some mashed spuds and was definitely impressed! A few delicate swirls of this over a dish of pasta Alfredo with tuna also proved to be a real winner, with the tuna flavour adding an almost sweet note to the combination to round it out perfectly. Why is this not getting a perfect 10 from me then? Well, that's harder to explain. Though the quality is undeniable and an excellent condiment, the price is still a little beyond 'every day accessibility' for most folks. This is a dressing, not an ingredient per se, which means that it will take a creative cook to push it beyond the obvious uses and allow it to act as an ingredient. I suspect that it could prove amazingly versatile as a sauce base if someone with more kitchen skills than me is willing to try, but I don't want to waste the limited supply I have on hand in experimenting - it's just too yummy as is. ^;) Overall, a very pleasing addition to the pantry, and one that I fear will vanish far sooner than I would prefer... but I will enjoy it to it's very last drop. |

Of the two St Andrews Limes dressings I was lucky enough to try, this was my second favourite. I took this along to a family dinner along with the "[link^3111^Just a Dressing^link]" and overall this was narrowly voted second by all the family. It has a wonderfully smooth and creamy yet tangy taste to it, just a little bit of extra ompff to it. It proved very nice indeed. I've been enjoying using this to dress up the plain old garden salads. As it is a bit higher in calories as many creamier dressings are, I wouldn't say this is my "every day" dressing option but it certainly my "I deserve an indulgent treat" option and it really does feel like a wonderfully indulgent treat. Unlike some dressings, I found you don't need too much either to enjoy the wonderful flavour which helps make it decent value for money. This is one I will want to keep stocked along with "Just a Dressing". Having discovered this range I believe it's safe to say that I have a new addiction! |

NZGeekGirl Ok, I tried this drizzled over a grilled salmon steak last night, then I drizzled some more, then I nearly licked the plate (note to self, must not teach the kids bad habits). I thought nothing could make salmon taste better and apparently I was wrong! OMG. Amazing. |
